Bakewell Old House Museum. Thursday 28th July - Sunday 4th September. Holiday Games at the Old House Museum. Enjoy fun and games at the Old House Museum this summer! There's the Award winning Rat Trail, Top Ten Trail, outdoor games - do you remember hoola hoops? Try on fashions gone by from our dressing up rail, explore the dolls house and make Doll and Dinosaur paper chains. With hands on activities and wonderful rooms to explore, there's fun for children of all ages! Usual museum entry charges apply.

Bakewell Old House Museum. Getting to the museum:. The museum is reached from the town centre by a rather steep (but short) uphill walk. Some visitors may feel more comfortable taking the public bus, details of which are available on our Directions page. We have limited parking space outside the museum, reserved for Blue Badge holders. Portable wheelchair ramps availabe on request. The building is very old, so we advise visitors to take care on the uneven floors and ight levels are low.

Bakewell Old House Museum. History of the Museum. A small museum tucked away in the heart of the Peak District, this Tudor house has seen a lot! Built during the reign of Henry VIII, the museum was originally a tax collector's cottage. Ralph Gell of Hopton, near Wirksworth, had taken over the collection of tithes (the tenth of all produce that was due to the church) and needed a house for his steward, Christopher Plant. 11:00 - 16:00 Daily.
