As you can see here, this is the outside of the kitchen showing the L-shape which resulted from expanding the kitchen onto the back porch - which was done around 1970. They built the shed in the resulting corner. Here's an interior shot of the shed. you may not can tell, but it was nasty, and a haven for rodents. Another nest and skeleton.

There is nothing particularly wrong with knob and tube. The primary difficulty is that it lacks the capacity for modern electrical demand. If you leave it in place with the appropriate fuses it should be fine, just don't tap into it with new wiring - make the K&T fusebox a sub panel and leave it alone. 2011-06-20 12:40 am (UTC).
