old school sportbikes: Winter on the Island

http://oldschoolsportbikes.blogspot.com/2008/12/winter-on-island.html

Saturday, December 6, 2008. Winter on the Island. For most of Canada, the start of winter is about putting away your motorcycle, putting on snow tires and possibly readying your shop for a winter project. For those of us in BC on the lower mainland and Vancouver Island, its about putting away your summer motorcycle, and getting out your winter ride. This year I am sad to have only a project. old school sportbikes: August 2008

http://oldschoolsportbikes.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html

Tuesday, August 19, 2008. New on the Island. But my heart went out to it. It was an S model after all. REAL old school sport/standard. No cruisers pls! So I bought the old thing for 400 bucks. The guy agreed to remove all the homemade "accessories" if he could keep them. NO PROBLEM! I said. So I had my first Vancouver Island Bike project. Monday, August 18, 2008. I only wish the marketing folks at the Japanese manufacters would get input from the NA market. BKing? What do you ride? Its an 08 Burger King!

http://oldschoolsportbikes.blogspot.com/2008/08/and-on.html

Monday, August 18, 2008. I only wish the marketing folks at the Japanese manufacters would get input from the NA market. BKing? What do you ride? Its an 08 Burger King! I know its probably short for 'Busa, given the 1300cc link, but come on. But lo at 14000 bucks, its about 10 fold my working price range. I also saw a Benelli machine without a price tag. If you have to ask.you probably can't afford it. But it sure was nice. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). New on the Island. Old school part one.

Motorcycle Junkie - SV650 rider: Oil change

http://svtwin.blogspot.com/2009/06/oil-change.html

Motorcycle Junkie - SV650 rider. Perspectives of a motorcycle enthusiast. Friday, June 12, 2009. Everyone and their dog has an opinion about which is the best brand of oil to use in their car, motorcycle, or sewing machine. Like everyone else, I've got my opinion, too. And, while we're on the topic of oil, is it worth spending the extra cash for synthetic oil? Or is good old dino oil good enough? This is good for motorcycles. This is good for cars. Yes, the oil inside the bottle. Doing an oil and filter ...

http://svtwin.blogspot.com/2009/05/can-you-hear-me-now-moron.html

Motorcycle Junkie - SV650 rider. Perspectives of a motorcycle enthusiast. Sunday, May 17, 2009. Can you hear me now? I've always been frustrated with my bike's lethargic and whimpy sounding factory horn. With people cutting me off, pulling out in front of me, failing to look before merging or moving into my lane - I beep my silly girl's horn at them and no one even notices. Not any more. How does it sound? Well, with the rider seat and rear seat cowl back in place, it's still. Subscribe to this blog.

Motorcycle Junkie - SV650 rider. Perspectives of a motorcycle enthusiast. Saturday, May 9, 2009. My quest for the best blinkers. Lockhart Philips surface mount micro indicators:. Motorcycle Junkie - SV650 rider: Super deal on new tires - ruined by UPS

http://svtwin.blogspot.com/2009/02/super-deal-on-new-tires-ruined-by-ups.html

Motorcycle Junkie - SV650 rider. Perspectives of a motorcycle enthusiast. Friday, February 27, 2009. Super deal on new tires - ruined by UPS. In any case, while clickin' around on eBay last week, I happened to stumble upon a guy in Wisconsin selling brand new Road Attacks for $50. WTF? For only $35 each! Holy shit, Batman, that's $70 for a matching pair. He got me a shipping quote from UPS: $55 from Wisconsin to Ottawa. A little steep for shipping, but it's still a terrific bargain. It makes no sense.

Motorcycle Junkie - SV650 rider: Rear suspension upgrade

http://svtwin.blogspot.com/2009/04/rear-suspension-upgrade.html

Motorcycle Junkie - SV650 rider. Perspectives of a motorcycle enthusiast. Sunday, April 19, 2009. It's widely known that the SV. 650's stock suspension has 3 drawbacks:. 1) the components are budget pieces. Is adjustable (no compression or rebound damping). 3) too soft for anyone over 150 lbs. I'd been reading about all of the rear shock swaps for the SV. 650 People inevitably replace the crappy OEM. Unit with something that offers adjustability. R models will bolt right into the SV. 10 shock, but sprung...

Motorcycle Junkie - SV650 rider: Intiminators update

http://svtwin.blogspot.com/2009/06/intiminators-update.html

Motorcycle Junkie - SV650 rider. Perspectives of a motorcycle enthusiast. Friday, June 5, 2009. So I've been riding with these Intiminators. Installed in my front forks for 2 weeks now. I've ridden approximately 1,000 Km and I'm very pleased to report that they seem to be well worth the $150 (that was special introductory price, 50% off). They're made by a relatively new company, called Ricor Racing Shocks. And I suspect their going steal away many of Race Tech's. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Motorcycle Junkie - SV650 rider: Tire update

http://svtwin.blogspot.com/2009/06/tire-update.html

Motorcycle Junkie - SV650 rider. Perspectives of a motorcycle enthusiast. Monday, June 8, 2009. I also got an unexpected opportunity to try the new Contis in the rain. The Dunlops weren't bad when things got wet, but they weren't great. With the new tires, I was able to lift the front tire off the ground, and I even gave the bike a very generous amount of throttle coming out of a few turns. They didn't seem to mind the we surface at all. Two thunbs up! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Five on the Fly.

Motorcycle Junkie - SV650 rider: Sportbike Rally 2009 - Parry Sound, Ontario

http://svtwin.blogspot.com/2009/07/sportbike-rally-2009-parry-sound.html

Motorcycle Junkie - SV650 rider. Perspectives of a motorcycle enthusiast. Tuesday, July 7, 2009. Sportbike Rally 2009 - Parry Sound, Ontario. The 27th annual Sportbike Rally was held July 3-5 in Parry Sound, and I had been looking forward to attending since I first learned of it a few months ago. My long time buddy, Sean, from Toronto agreed to meet me there. He arrived a couple of days early to tour the area on his brand new Honda CBF1000. On the ride from Ottawa to Parry Sound: when it wasn't raining r...

Motorcycle Junkie - SV650 rider: The SV's days are numbered

http://svtwin.blogspot.com/2009/07/svs-days-are-numbered.html

Motorcycle Junkie - SV650 rider. Perspectives of a motorcycle enthusiast. Monday, July 13, 2009. The SV's days are numbered. I've been thinking a lot about a big dual-purpose dirt/street bike lately. Having grown up riding dirt bikes, I feel like I need to get back to my roots. Yet, I need a bike that can also take me to work and back. Been looking at a the Honda XR650L and the Suzuki DR650SE. Considered the Kawi KLR650, but they're too ugly. Here's a sneak peek:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Motorcycle Junkie - SV650 rider. Perspectives of a motorcycle enthusiast. Monday, June 29, 2009. I picked up a. One-piece leather suit recently. As always, I scored a great bargain. When I found this deal, I wasn't even shopping for a leather suit but I knew it was a steal the moment I spotted the ad. At least I'm protected. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
