The Olsens: Serving In Ecuador: March 2015
http://blog.olsensinecuador.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 22, 2015. Oyacachi: Stuck in the Muck. As the shouts of joy died down, I will never forget the sound of all of the little voices yelling, ‘Noooo! Thirty five of us pulled into Oyacachi on a bus just two days earlier, with about five of us having visited the town previously. The group I was with is from Camp-Of-The-Woods. A camp located in Speculator, NY. They have a discipleship program (called LIFT. Every year for about the past five years. The Church in Oyacachi. We all went back inside t...

The Olsens: Serving In Ecuador: September 2013
http://blog.olsensinecuador.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 10, 2013. For some reason the idea of a shepherd has really been striking me recently. Our daughter, Kaia was given a stuffed animal lamb when she was just a few weeks old. Somehow this lamb became her best friend. She can’t go to bed without it. She dresses it in her clothes and shoes. She carries it with her everywhere. She does as much as she possibly can with it, and just the. What does a shepherd do? There are several passages of scripture that use the illustration of the shepherd...

The Olsens: Serving In Ecuador: Dust.
http://blog.olsensinecuador.com/2015/04/dust.html
Wednesday, April 8, 2015. This is the road just outside of our house in the dry season. I'd say that we had lived here in Ecuador for six months before I learned what the word 'polvo' means. Our summer months here can get pretty dry. So, when all of the dirt roads turned from packed, hard dirt to light, dusty powder, I learned the meaning of 'polvo.'. So we thought we'd bring up the idea to our landlords. To our surprise, they were completely up for making an addition (with two bedrooms! They're building...

The Olsens: Serving In Ecuador: The Olympics: Dedication
http://blog.olsensinecuador.com/2014/02/the-olympics-dedication.html
Monday, February 17, 2014. The Olympics have never been something that have gotten me really excited. I think they’re great- don’t get me wrong- it’s just that I know some people who get so pumped to watch the Olympics, and I don’t quite relate. That being said, I’ve watched a ton of events with Suzy this year- probably more than I ever have before- and it has been quite enjoyable. Our goal is so much more worthy; our results more eternal; our impact more lasting; and our motivation more inspiring. O...

The Olsens: Serving In Ecuador: May 2013
http://blog.olsensinecuador.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 7, 2013. Walking. Reflecting. Talking with God. I walked to work this morning. I try to do this often. It's only an additional 6-7 minutes on foot over driving here. Suzy and I watched 'The Hobbit' the other night for the first time- my parents were kind enough to mail us an original copy (original copies of movies are hard to come by down here)! Being that this movie didn't cover half of the book, we decided to start reading the book, The Hobbit. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Jim and Suzy Ols...
