Easy Vietnamese Iced Coffee. Cold-Brewed Vietnamese Iced Coffee. June 27, 2012. June 29, 2012. Cold-Brewed Vietnamese Iced Coffee. Easy Vietnamese Iced Coffee. I will spare you from my full blown cold-brewing spiel. (If you’re interested, you can just mosey on over to this post that I wrote last summer from Montana. But I will say that this method works especially well for Vietnamese-style iced coffee, which requires very concentrated coffee to stand up to the sweet condensed milk. Sometimes you just wan...

Fresh Corn and Cilantro Salsa. September 14, 2012. October 5, 2012. Where has the summer gone? As the last of the warm-weather produce disappears from the market, I’m finding myself getting mentally prepared for broccoli rabe and butternut squash. But hey, I honestly can’t complain about those prospects. With summer wrapping up, I thought I’d share a recipe for corn salsa. (Hopefully some of you are lucky enough to get your hands on some fresh late-season corn! Even though Chipotle is a giant company wit...

The Best of Oahu (A Food Lover’s Perspective). September 4, 2012. September 4, 2012. Best Food in Oahu. Hawaii is like a second home to me. I have family there, and spent most of my childhood summers on Oahu. The island holds a special place in my heart with its vibrant culture, amazing food, and some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. After I graduated from college and vacation time became scarce, I stopped joining my family on our annual trips. 1 Leonard’s Bakery. 2 Nu’uanu Okazya. Shaved ice ...

July 10, 2011. June 27, 2012. It was in the mid to high 80s and sunny last week, which many in Seattle consider to be uncomfortably hot. But secretly I love those hot summer days. Every once in a while I crave that kind of heat–the kind that practically demands an ice cold beverage and legitimizes booty shorts as acceptable attire. Must be the Californian in me. Adapted from New York Times. 1/3 cup ground coffee (medium-coarse grind is best). Milk and sugar to taste. I used a 2:1 coffee to water ratio be...

Kickstarter Projects I Love. June 24, 2012. September 4, 2012. Happy Monday, everyone! By now, many of you have probably heard of the website Kickstarter. Which helps entrepreneurs raise funds for their creative projects. I love this concept because it disrupts the old school funding model–a space that used to be reserved for venture capitalist firms and rich private investors. Now normal folk like me can contribute funds to everything from documentaries to macron bakeries. Join 95 other followers. Follo...

Design. Fashion. Glamour. How to lose friends and alienate people. If you love Ms.Andrews and would like to know more about her early life, this is a very good read. It moves a little slowly, but you will not believe the rough childhood she had, living through WWII, being the lone supporter of her family, and all other kinds of intrigue. The book ends with her moving to L.A. to work on. So I can’t wait for a second installment of her life. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.
