This blog documents my journey as I prepare for maxillofacial double jaw surgery. My story begins at Disney World, where a small girl, wrapped in a towel poolside, trips and can't free her hands to stop her face from hitting the deck in time. Little did we know, this simple fall would initiate a chain reaction of jaw issues in later years. After three years in braces, another in a splint, and one surgery down, I stand before you with one last hurdle between me and 'jaw perfection'. Wish me luck!

Aghh. luckily I'll only have those rascally rubber bands for another few weeks. As I mentioned, the outlook on my braces situation looks a little more bleak. So I'm finally one day past my three week-aversary, and I'm feeling fantasmatic! I went to my orthopedic surgeon yesterday and he said all looked great! Heading to New York as part of my graduation present in 2 days, and the doctor happily gave me to all-clear to travel. Excited to visit the Big Apple. even if I can't take a bite of it! Here's where I stand- I'm basically done with recovery, and am just now doing my time with braces. I've only got around a month left with the metals then I'm home free! I just ran out of my pain meds, and was trying very hard to keep it together. I guess my separation from the pain killers will have to be slow and steady. For now, I'm still taking the recommended serving every four hours. I tried, unsuccessfully, to eat some oatmeal this morning and it was a horrible, embarrassing experience! And now I'm on to th...
