However, my friend didn’t drink at dinner, which was entirely his choice as I had not said anything about not drinking. The one trick. The other times I was most worried about, down time in the hotel and airports, didn’t bother me either for some reason. I just felt committed to trying long-term sobriety. Screw it. Why not?

Maybe we can go steady. January 4, 2015. I just used a “count up” from the day I decided to quit drinking, and technically (since it is 3am), it has been 118 days since I have had a drop of alcohol. I survived Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s! Me Guess who didn’t kiss anyone at midnight? Some mornings I wake up and my fitbit will say I have walked 12 steps. There’s something kind of cool about that. I am doing 12 steps in my sleep. The pink is increasing and the purple receding.
