Tutorial: Quilted Mariner's Compass Floor Cushion. Awhile back, I made a floor cushion for my friend Kim. Featuring her first fabric line, Tidal Lace. Since her fabric is inspired by the sea, I decided that something featuring a Mariner's Compass block would be just the thing! Want to make one as well? To make a 24" square floor cushion of your own, you will need:. Sewing Machine with zipper foot and walking foot and hoping foot. Basic sewing supplies like scissors, thread, pins, etc. Fussy cut four 8" x...

Peppermint Pinwheels - On The Design Wall: Going down the Drunkard's Path.

http://onthedesignwall.blogspot.com/2011/07/going-down-drunkards-path.html

Going down the Drunkard's Path. It's not what you might think. I haven't gone round the bend with a bottle of whiskey. But, I have wandered a bit on the Drunkard's Path recently. I have this wonderful solids charm pack from Robert Kaufman. To be made into a quilt. So, I started. Thinking, and that's when I got involved with this tricky little block. The Drunkard's Path Die (makes 2 blocks). Lent me his new toy, a die-cutter for fabric called the Accuquilt Go Baby. What a beautiful scrap heap! 4 Drunkard'...

Peppermint Pinwheels - On The Design Wall: The Carnival Quilt

http://onthedesignwall.blogspot.com/2014/10/the-carnival-quilt.html

Just in time to post this on The Blogger's Quilt Festival, I finally finished and took some pictures of the quilt I made with Carol Van Zandt's. Super-fun fabric, Pop Rox. If you want to see some in process pictures, check out this post. I love how that last photo makes my sewing room look so bright and clean. Ha! Gosia @ Quilts My Way. October 24, 2014. October 24, 2014. Wow Seriously hypnotic. Very cool! October 24, 2014. So nice, and the quilting is fantastic! October 27, 2014. October 27, 2014.

Peppermint Pinwheels - On The Design Wall: Minimalism and Modern Patchwork Quilting

http://onthedesignwall.blogspot.com/2015/06/minimalism-and-modern-patchwork-quilting.html

Minimalism and Modern Patchwork Quilting. I would never describe myself as a minimalist. If anything, I'm a boarder-line hoarder with very Victorian ideas about how a space should be filled. But, I do often make quilts with a simple, or minimalist color palette. One of these quilts, the X Quilt. Just made it's publishing debut in Modern Patchwork Spring 2015. The author of the article, Cinzia Allocca. Saw the quilt and included it in her article, "Minimalism in Modern Quilt Design." What an honor! Voices...

Armchair Quilter: June 2012

http://couchpotatoquilts.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Can I bore you with yet more FW blocks? Here's the whole she-bang for the year:. My apologies . I was too lazy to move the lamp. And the most current batch:. 65279;. 65279;. 71 Puss in the Corner. 65279; That's it for now. I noticed with my cut and pasting that my numbering system is a bit off, but I don't have my book with me so I'll have to correct this later. Other than sewing a few blocks this past weekend, I undertook a major cleaning of my sewing area (ahem, bedroom/sewing room). I have no ide...

Ann Haley | Sew messy

https://sewmessy.wordpress.com/author/sportsew

For everyone who thinks messy is okay sometimes. November 16, 2014. What makes a quilt shop fun? I recently started a new job as a regional sales manager for Quilting Treasures. It’s all about the fabric, baby! I get to go to quilt shops every day and talk about fabric. Yep, I’m a kid in a candy store. My territory is the northern half of California, Nevada (except for Las Vegas), Idaho and the western 2/3 of Montana. I spent the past week in southern Idaho. It was snowy and windy, reminding me of my...

Paul's Block Party: Striped Hexies

http://paulsblockparty.blogspot.com/2013/09/striped-hexies.html

I have a stack of quilt tops that I've pieced over the years, but never got around to quilting. My challenge is to get one quilt finished every month. Friday, September 13, 2013. I had problems deciding how to edge the quilt. I didn't want to cut off the side hexies to straighten out the quilt, and I didn't want a pointy edge either, cause how do you pull that up to your neck? I'm thinking about the back now. Maybe a giant hexie coming up from a bottom corner that takes up about a third of the back?

Paul's Block Party: Oranges and Lemons

http://paulsblockparty.blogspot.com/2014/01/oranges-and-lemons.html

I have a stack of quilt tops that I've pieced over the years, but never got around to quilting. My challenge is to get one quilt finished every month. Friday, January 31, 2014. I'm finally using some of the fabric I batiked and dyed! I started dying several fabrics in the same colours to create a bunch of fabrics that go together. I just made strips and put them together for this top. I call this one Oranges and Lemons. I thought the background might have been a bad choice, so I made the back with white.

Paul's Block Party: Tutorials - Christmas Tree Skirt (updated Jan 2013)

I have a stack of quilt tops that I've pieced over the years, but never got around to quilting. My challenge is to get one quilt finished every month. On the Detour | A journey into offbeat visions & unfenced creatives

A journey into offbeat visions and unfenced creatives. Vermont’s First Santa Run. December 7, 2011 by Cat Cutillo. Story and Photos by Cat Cutillo. A sea of Santas poured down Church Street on Sunday during Ri Ra’s 5K Santa Run and Walk. More than 1200 participants pounded the pavement uniformed in red and white. I don’t know why Vermont has never had the Santa race before. This is the kind of state a Santa race is designed for, said onlooker Ross Sheehan. It was amazing to be apart of something that was...
