One in eight of the worlds bird species are now threatened, with more than 200 species at high risk of extinction in the short term. Zoos and Wildlife parks such as On the Perch are playing a key role in protecting our wildlife for the future. Rose-crowned Fruit-dove are a small, colourful rainforest pigeon that are known from the coast and ranges extending from Cape York in the north, to south of Sydney. Occasionally, they are found on the NSW Sapphire Coast. The species is threatened by changes in the extent and condition of rainforest habitats, and the removal of key feed resources. They are now listed as Vulnerable under the NSW Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995. 2016 ON THE PERCH.
