Blini And Baguette: November 2012
http://bliniandbaguette.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Travel, Foodie and Literary Adventures of a Compulsive Globetrotter. Wednesday, November 21, 2012. The Guide to World Domination. In my aimless pre-going-to-bed surfing, I stumbled over this gem: "A Brief Guide to World Domination". And "What can you offer the world that no-one else can? In a way, this point validated my current path for me. I am so caught up in studies at the moment that I sometimes feel guilty not volunteering, working, gaining experience or adding value one way or another - but se...

Blini And Baguette: August 2012
http://bliniandbaguette.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Travel, Foodie and Literary Adventures of a Compulsive Globetrotter. Tuesday, August 28, 2012. Thoughts from the airport. Also -side note - the fact that I am actually sorta of a pregnancy-appropriate age blows my mind. 2 The awesome fact that British Airways allows 23kg of hand luggage aboard is only slightly diminished by the fact that travelling with 23kg of hand luggage in addition to the 42 I checked is somewhat of a pain. You win some, you lose some. 6 No, wait - Free airport wifi is the best.

Blini And Baguette: March 2013
http://bliniandbaguette.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Travel, Foodie and Literary Adventures of a Compulsive Globetrotter. Saturday, March 23, 2013. Book Club: Fair Coin. The book club is not dead, long live the book club! After a loooong hiatus, John, Hillary and I decided on a new book to review together: Fair Coin by E.C. Myers. . We originally decided on it after reading this article. That promised that the book would be pure awesome crack - which seemed to be a pretty good description of a book to go after. . HOWEVER (spoilers after the jump; suffice i...

Blini And Baguette: October 2012
http://bliniandbaguette.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Travel, Foodie and Literary Adventures of a Compulsive Globetrotter. Sunday, October 7, 2012. One week in Bonn. You see awesome houses wherever you look up. There are random castles in the city center. The Münster looks like a fairy tale castle from this angle. It is pretty awesome to be a German in an international program in Germany. I love startling people by listening to them explain something in English and then following up with a question in German. They were presenting local apple variations.

Blini And Baguette: The Other Inconvenient Truth
http://bliniandbaguette.blogspot.com/2013/02/the-other-inconvenient-truth.html
Travel, Foodie and Literary Adventures of a Compulsive Globetrotter. Tuesday, February 5, 2013. The Other Inconvenient Truth. Ah man. From now on, anytime anybody asks why I am studying what I am studying, I'll just refer them to Jonathan Foley. Who gave a riveting TED talk in 2010 about what he calls "The Other Inconvenient Truth". Some of his major arguments why agriculture is one of the main challenges of the future:. Already today, 40% of the Earth's surface area is devoted to agriculture. Riley call...

Blini And Baguette: September 2010
http://bliniandbaguette.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Travel, Foodie and Literary Adventures of a Compulsive Globetrotter. Saturday, September 18, 2010. Since I haven’t written for a while, here’s to a double post! My friend Eric was asking for some Paris observations and this comes right out of my answer to him. I have been making some more observations since then and included them randomly (they are probably the lighter-hearted ones, when I was writing to Eric I was in a pretty bad humor) so sit back and pretend to be in Paris! 8221; –. Because of course,...

Blini And Baguette: January 2011
http://bliniandbaguette.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Travel, Foodie and Literary Adventures of a Compulsive Globetrotter. Saturday, January 8, 2011. When it snows in Paris. The city doesn’t have enough snowploughs or salt or other equipment to clear the streets, so most people either slide around on their way to work or take the metro. (This winter, the city used 1/3 of their supply of salt in one weekend. Go figure.). Since they can’t use their car, everybody tries to use the metro. The metro lines, not used to so much traffic, breaks down. Or something s...

Blini And Baguette: August 2010
http://bliniandbaguette.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Travel, Foodie and Literary Adventures of a Compulsive Globetrotter. Tuesday, August 31, 2010. Wow… First two (and a half) weeks in Paris. The thing about a blog is that it is a contradiction in itself. If you have something exciting that you are doing, you don’t have time to blog about it. And if you do blog, you have the time to do so, therefore your time isn’t filled out with exciting social encounters and adventures. 1 Got a phone. 2 Found an apartment. Send me all the right documents now? All this m...

Blini And Baguette: September 2012
http://bliniandbaguette.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Travel, Foodie and Literary Adventures of a Compulsive Globetrotter. Friday, September 28, 2012. I know I still owe you an account of my last two travel-days, but I think I can cut it short with a-sentence-per-destination:. Rijeka: cute medieval castle, but other than that a bustling transit hub you won't want to stay in longer than a day or two. Venice: always a pleasure, but particularly at 6.30am before any other tourist has entered town - well worth getting up at 5.45 am my last morning. Best cafe (r...

Blini And Baguette: July 2012
http://bliniandbaguette.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Travel, Foodie and Literary Adventures of a Compulsive Globetrotter. Tuesday, July 24, 2012. Book Club: Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? There are few instances where I watch a movie based on a book before I read the book itself, but through a combination of my total unawareness of popular culture and awesome friends. I found myself sitting in a viewing of Blade Runner last winter, totally immersed in a futuristic society that could not be more dystopian. "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? The rea...
