The story would have been different if the pilots in the first airplane had used known power settings and a clock to get a rough gauge of their altitude, had disregarded their automation, and simply flown the plane. They could have climbed to a safe altitude, intercepted the localizer, and used the radar altimeter to gauge their height from the ground. Instead, they panicked. This entry was posted in Safety.

Do you believe me? December 5, 2014. The captain immediately caught my attention as soon as his voice started to broadcast over the PA system. Like everyone else seated around me, I was interested to hear what he had to say. 8220;Ladies and gentlemen, due to the inclement weather, I’m afraid we’re going to have to cancel today’s trip.”.
