It can start within a few weeks of giving birth or could take a few months to develop. The Key symptoms are:. A prolonged feeling of sadness or low mood. Lack of energy and a constant feeling of tiredness (even if you have managed to sleep). Feelings of guilt, self-blame or worthlessness. High levels of anxiety.

I am a busy working mum with two sons, I decided to start Open House after I suffered severe postnatal depression following the birth of my second son. Because I was very unwell I was admitted to the Margaret Oates Mother and Baby Unit at the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham, I stayed on the unit for 8 weeks until I was discharged.
