Tuesday, July 14, 2009. Where do we get our data for comparison? In a simplified and uncached form a search goes something like this:. The user starts a search on the Openjet site. The Openjet application tells the TripTrap meta-engine the details of the search. TripTrap translates the request for each supplier and sends it to them in their format. The suppliers return data to TripTrap which translates it to a unified format. The Openjet site fetches the unified data and does its magic. Now there are two...

The OpenJet Project: Pseudo-Uniqueness

http://www.openjet.blogspot.com/2009/06/pseudo-uniqueness.html

Thursday, June 25, 2009. The need to give things unique names is something that is present in many applications, from variable names to database fields. Openjet is no different and we already have two cases where we need the system to automatically generate unique identifiers. So what did we do? Well, I wrote a utility class that creates hashes from input strings of course! Using the MD5 algorithm for hashing, we will get a 32-digit hexadecimal number which will be virtually. This is why I say virtually.

The OpenJet Project: June 2009

http://www.openjet.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, June 27, 2009. Martin mentioned the unique ID generation in previous post, so I recalled the problem which was solved in similar fashion. At the beginning of developing TripTrap the issue "how to find out if such request was already processed? Arose Well, that's quite easy: store it to DB and next time check if it's already there. What becomes a problem is "how to do that fast? And it's very good key for memcached storage. More that one request blob. From DB or the. List of request blobs. The n...

The OpenJet Project: Soft numbers

http://www.openjet.blogspot.com/2009/07/soft-values.html

Tuesday, July 7, 2009. There is an interesting tendency nowadays, especially among economists, to present things in exact figures. Like they where true. In particular this is, surprisingly enough, almost always the case when it comes to predictions. Future estimations. How can a future estimation ever be exact? You often hear economists state things like “We expect a growth of 11% during next 6 months”. How can he state something like that? The most suitable output from them. Hit that exact number. If a ...

Martin Skans: October 2012

http://www.martinskans.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

The root blog of Martin Skans, Swedish technology geek and hobby writer. Saturday, 20 October 2012. I just finished Max Payne 3 on the PS3. This game can be very frustrating at times. There was a lot of swearing as I tried certain parts over and over again, but I have finally managed to get to the end! Your experience might differ if you go with easier settings or play on the PC with a mouse. So to sum it all up, a good game, fairly long, not revolutionizing, and very very frustrating at times! In the mo...

Martin Skans: Far Cry 3

http://www.martinskans.com/2012/12/far-cry-3.html

The root blog of Martin Skans, Swedish technology geek and hobby writer. Wednesday, 12 December 2012. After sitting through the ending credits of Far Cry 3, here are my thoughts. Overall it is a good and fun game because of the strong characters and the story, but the open-world stuff does not bring much except for nice-looking environments. It might be that the cooperative and multiplayer modes are good but I have not tried those. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Martin Skans: Final Fantasy

http://www.martinskans.com/2015/06/final-fantasy.html

The root blog of Martin Skans, Swedish technology geek and hobby writer. Sunday, 7 June 2015. I played the first game on the iPad, which is a few versions after the original NES version. Through those versions of the game, the artwork has been remade as well as improvements of the music and sound. While doing this, the translations have been redone as well. The original game had bugs that made some spells useless and those are also fixed in later versions. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Martin Skans: Contrast

http://www.martinskans.com/2014/02/contrast.html

The root blog of Martin Skans, Swedish technology geek and hobby writer. Friday, 28 February 2014. Become one with the shadows while trying to overcome obstacles in Thie- . Sorry, I mean Contrast. There is a light (pun intended) story-telling going on, but mostly what will get you through the game is the mystery of what is reality and what is not. Are you a fiction of the girl's imagination as the other shadows seem to think? If you are, why can you affect things in the world of the little girl?

Martin Skans: Ender's Game

http://www.martinskans.com/2013/05/enders-game.html

The root blog of Martin Skans, Swedish technology geek and hobby writer. Sunday, 19 May 2013. Written by Orson Scott Card, an author I have not had the pleasure to read anything from before, Ender's game put me in a state of mind that reminded me of how I felt when reading Asimov's Foundation series. As a side-note: There appear to be other books following in the same time-line after this one. The book still stands on its own though, and can easily be read by itself. If I read one of the others I...

Martin Skans: Tomb Raider

The root blog of Martin Skans, Swedish technology geek and hobby writer. Sunday, 16 June 2013. The enemies are mostly as enemies usually are in this type of game, behaving the same way from fight to fight and repeating the same phrase as each other quite often. From time to time combat has also has a few quick-time elements, where one has to press the right buttons that show up on screen. These events are pretty basic and most of the time it is the same button that is used. View my complete profile.
