With a 900 foot field of view it offers truly a wide angle true field of view. Really quite impressive especially when it is a relatively flat field. It offers a very relaxed image assuming you have some accomodation left in your eyes as this is a fixed focus model. Second, the bin is only single coated as in evidence by the light blue/purple coatings on the lenses.

The View From Here. Optics Reviews and More. Zen Ray 7×43 ED3. Comparison with the 8×43 ED3:. The only other external difference between the two configurations is in the focusing knob feel. The 8×43 displays about 1/8th of inch of play which does not change the focus point. The 7×43 does not display any play whatsoever and is extremely precise throughout the focus range. Focusing speed, direction and overall feel are identical between the two configurations. Close focus is right at 6 feet for my eyes.
