A smörgasbård of a human being. Year of the cookbook, part I. January 29, 2012. As I write this, I’m sipping on a cup of orange-infused coffee from a local brunchery called Orange. Imaginative, I know). I woke up with a hankering for it and a muted desire to make my own bean juice as per usual, and the discovery that they sell it to-go has started the morning on a particularly positive note. August 9, 2011. All photography is by myself and dining companion Hillary I’m not going to individually cred...

To the Moon and Back Again. November 4, 2014. Just a little PSA to say, I am now blogging at Gin and Folic. Fifth time’s the charm. March 26, 2014. The first time it happened was after a church service in a teeny tiny Alabama town: It was a whim of a morning, a last minute decision to drive windows down and Wilco blasting to an Episcopal church in Greensboro. Afterwards, we stood in the stone courtyard, our arms a tangled mess, as I looked up, way up, and he asked me in a whisper. I grinned and nodded.

Figuring out what adult means. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. Links to my Flickr Albums. Newer posts →. August 24, 2011. Today is one of those days that invites dreaming. The sunshine and perfect temperature, the breeze coming through the windows, and the puffy white clouds all chase away the complications and consequences of doing the things you’ve wanted to do for awhile. Next I began re-imagining this space, possibly using an indoor, wall-mounted garden. And a corner cabinet.

Looks Like Tomorrow Is Coming On Fast. February 27, 2013. I sat in this same building half-a-decade ago (that sounds so much statelier than five years, don’t you think? A rather unwilling violist in the Alabama All-State Orchestra. I’d put much less thought in the ensemble than my outfit: tight bell-bottoms and a perfectly worn Dylan tee. I wiggled, squirmed, made eyes at the curly haired bassist behind me who later serenaded me with Desolation Row. Chicago, the new age! January 7, 2013. Oh my This was o...

delicious ... delicioso: raspberry egg sandwich

Delicious . delicioso. Last week I went to Chicago, which is a very good food town. I kept thinking of that SNL skit. Parodying Mike Ditka, the Chicago Bears coach, which always featured him eating loads of fried and unhealthy foods and drinking beer. No joke, you can eat like that in Chicago. Viva the midwest! Raspberry-peppercorn egg sandwich on wheat bread. Ellen had a vegetable omelet. 2 slices wheat bread, toasted. 1 egg, beaten. Pink peppercorns, grounded (or regular ground pepper). Just put down t...
