Sons of the American Legion. The History behind Post 28. The Post first started as a Soldiers and Sailors Club in 1919. It was later chartered as the American Legion Post 28 in 1920 by a returning group of W W 1 veterans. They bought the present property from Dr. Bailey in 1944 at the cost of $5,000 by putting up bonds of between $25 and $100 each. At that time the post had slot machines and a restaurant that was doing well, so they called in the bonds, over half of the members threw them away.
