Lap Me In Soft Lydian Airs: April 2011
http://lydianairs.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Lap Me In Soft Lydian Airs. Friday, 29 April 2011. I hear there have been recent reports of a 10-strong foreign choir, due to sing in remote parts of the Celtic fringe, flying into the UK and then absconding. In France they say salon. Which I suppose translates as saloon, but that doesn't give the right idea at all. It's just a space between our sitting and dining areas large enough to accommodate 8 people of mixed nationalities, conductor and pianist. Who'll provide meat and drink at the birds' wedding?

Lap Me In Soft Lydian Airs: Second to none
http://lydianairs.blogspot.com/2012/05/second-to-none.html
Lap Me In Soft Lydian Airs. Saturday, 26 May 2012. I had one of these once. I found it, years ago when we were house-hunting in France. It was almost the same as in the photo, only the curved members were extended to join at the ends, so that it looked like a kind of sledge. It was called un moine. A monk. There was a time when no house in this part of the world was without its monks. I think I eventually sold it for about £3. How dreams dissipate, like a freshly warmed bed on a cold night. Hello Liz....

Lap Me In Soft Lydian Airs. Sunday, 25 September 2011. Going, going, gone. So off we drove on the designated afternoon to find her house and observatory. After a warm welcome with lemon meringue pie served with a cocktail of rosé. It turned out, very much to our surprise, that we were the only guests, apart from a retired journalist who lived down the lane, whose private water supply had given out and who'd come to beg a shower. So M. produced a half-bottle of champagne and J. and I and the n...Well, we ...

Lap Me In Soft Lydian Airs. Wednesday, 25 April 2012. It was finished in December. It was hard parting with this composition, like giving a child away. I still miss it, to tinker with and call my own. It took me 18 months, on and off, to write. Trio Hoboken: Saskia Lethiec (violin), Eric Picard (cello), Jérôme Granjon (piano). Prieuré de St Julien, Hérault département, France. Do you (i.e. does anyone) see pictures, form visual impressions when you listen to music? Of events, or places, or people? With t...

Lap Me In Soft Lydian Airs: January 2012

Lap Me In Soft Lydian Airs. Monday, 30 January 2012. Many of which have been preserved, are sometimes revealing of the mighty struggles going on inside his head and the stream of often very complex music which sought to resolve them. But sometimes my mother's hearing picks up inexplicably. A recent conversation went as follows:. Joan: I've been in Rome, you know. J: They sent me there. On a mission. C: Who better than you? J: I had to get the formula. C: And did you manage to get it? J: No, I didn't.

Lap Me In Soft Lydian Airs: July 2011
http://lydianairs.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Lap Me In Soft Lydian Airs. Sunday, 31 July 2011. In the course of the village street market this morning J. and I met our friends M. and Mme Hector. While we were chatting I thought I recognised Mme Martin, a secretary at the Mairie (a sort of village town hall) and her husband coming towards us. They're neighbours, they live just up the lane from us. But you must know them! That wasn't Mme Martin,' Hector said. 'Nor was it M. Martin either.'. Abashed, I said: 'Who were they, then? Apparently once on a ...

Lap Me In Soft Lydian Airs. Monday, 30 May 2011. Top lines from Chaucer No. 103. Actually they're edited from The Washington Post's annual round-ups of topical neologisms. Life, photos but not the universe. Food and water. Fish. Looking over my shoulder – the family. I forgot to say. That I’ve seen Zoe. Isn’t that lovely? And I’m really, totally, enormously pissed off that I can’t visit Ziggi. Actually, ankles and stuff notwithstanding, I will. November 28, 2014. Or in or wherever it is that you properly should drop. I haven’t blogged for longer than I can remember (which is not as long as I’d like ) and you know what? I’ve missed it. A mysteriously damaged ankle. And natu...
