We did it. We finally began construction on our own home. It has been a decade of dreaming and designing, a few years of planning, and a couple months of tweaking. Although we've lived in one of our company's. So, the basic layout of our new house was the easy part. Hammering down the details. now that's another story. I've always been inspired by the old foursquare. Homes in St. Paul, Minnesota, where I took my first design job. They have simple floorplans, with all the details in the finishes. We broke...

Our Little Garden Party. For K and K's fourth birthday we decided to have a garden party. My crafty MIL made the girls' outfits from the fabric I had gotten from Material Girl. I wanted to move my gorgeous harvest table in for a vintage look, but it was being used to stage a house. I opted for the plastic tablecloth instead. Kind of a bummer, but it all about having fun, right? We had done a lot of work to the firepit since last year, which allowed us to really use the space for an event like this. He sp...

For years Justin had wanted a rock climbing Jeep (he had another Jeep, but we'll save that story for a rainy day). He patiently waited for the right timing. Finally, last summer he got one. He doesn't play golf or watch pro sports. Jeeping is his thing. So it became our thing. Something we can do as a family. And even more fun yet, is something we can do with other families! We cannot wait to go back! Hi, I'm Anna! Designer, wife, mother, and wanna-be farmer. Livin' it up semi- "country" style.

Removing Grease from Carpet- Without Chemicals. Last fall I purchased this fabulous warehouse cart on the Junk Jaunt. In a mad rush, we pressure washed it, cut off the handle and staged it in the house before the Parade of Homes. 8203;I then recalled that my orange essential oil. Is successful at removing a plethora of stickies and gunkies, so I thought I'd give it a shot. To my amazement and relief, it worked! This picture is a small spot, but I had several larger spots cleaned before I got to this one.

We Planted an Orchard! We knew well before Farmstead that one of the first things we'd do when we found our land would be to plant trees, including an orchard. We loved the idea of growing our own fruits and sharing them with others, not to mention the enjoying the beauty of the trees themselves. Overall we have 17 apple trees, 2 plum trees and one pear tree. I can't wait till these babies start producing some fruit. I have visions of future road-side stands and farmer's markets in my head! We built our ...

The Farm: Before & After - farmstead road

The Farm: Before and After. What was "Farmstead" like before we lived here? One big hot mess! There was an itty bitty decrepit house and outbuildings inhabited by stray cats, masses of junk and trash buried corner to corner, and a 1970's single-wide trailer, effectively known as the "brown turd". Excuse me but that brown turd house happened to belong to my grandparents who both had passed away! Lady down the road. Do u realize that u think u know so much and think u are gods green earth but there is more...
