If Music be the Food of Love, Play On: January 2015
http://ottawafood.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 11, 2015. I hope the chilly days of January have been good to you. The commitments we have made to be better to ourselves and to others are still full of hope and promise. Our repertoire of Mexican dishes has true favourites and we turn to them time and time again, just 'because'. But it's time to make room for new friends. What did I learn? This doubting Thomas did not think the suggestion for preparing the chicken could give me tender shreds. But who am I to question the wisdom of t...

http://ottawafood.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 9, 2014. Weekend Brunch and My Lobster Benny at The Urban Pear. Jeff Frost, new owner of The Urban Pear in the Glebe says he wants his weekend brunch to be known as the best in the city. Based on my Lobster Benny this morning, this goal is a distinct possibility. It's also one of the few places that offers brunch both Saturdays and Sundays. Although the place is almost all windows, new art of bright colours adorn the freshly painted limonade walls. Sunny on in the inside as well as out.

http://ottawafood.blogspot.com/2014/08/roots-and-shoots-farm-9th-week-of-csa.html
Saturday, August 30, 2014. Roots and Shoots Farm - 9th Week of CSA Food 2014. When I picked up my Week 9 CSA basket from Roots and Shoots Farm. I did not expect that my golden beets would turn into pickles. We have had golden beets before this season. For this half share member, repeats hardly ever happen because of careful planning by owner, Robin Turner. He makes a point of managing the variety from basket to basket. Because they sure look good on the plate. The entire basket was beautiful. Check i...

Sunday, September 7, 2014. Roots and Shoots Farm - 11th Week of CSA Food 2014. We have had our Roots and Shoots Farm. CSA basket from week 11 for ten days now. Although we have been eating out and enjoying other market produce, the basket is getting fair attention and plans are being made for it all. I did not take as many pictures of our dishes as I have the prior month. There are a few included here. Just try to imagine it all, though! In the fridge whenever that bite needs a ' pow. Potatoes - we serve...
If Music be the Food of Love, Play On: Creamy Zippy Strawberry Ice Cream
http://ottawafood.blogspot.com/2015/06/creamy-zippy-strawberry-ice-cream.html
Saturday, June 27, 2015. Creamy Zippy Strawberry Ice Cream. Alison on Instagram (who says she isn't sweating the small stuff) also says she wants to make strawberry ice cream. Her neighbourly voice from my Instagram feed was a forceful reminder of why I started to blog in the first place. To share my love for food, ideas about food and successful recipes. So Alison, here you go and I hope your day in the berry patch is full of red. I decided to skip the big lemon flavour and opted for adding in a balance...

She Eats Bears: bunnies and eggs
http://sheeatsbears.blogspot.com/2011/04/bunnies-and-eggs.html
Monday, April 18, 2011. When i was younger (well, maybe still) i was fascinated by cadbury cream eggs. (and bunnies. and i want a bunny soooooo bad. i want a bunny.). What a delight when a friend sent me a recipe to make them myself! You should definitely attempt these at home. They do take time, patience, but they are well worth it. One thing that may have made it a tad more difficult is the fact that i added a bit more corn syrup (oh, and honey) so that the center would be less stiff. Here is the recipe.

http://sheeatsbears.blogspot.com/2010/05/raspberry-and-rhubarb-tart.html

As I grabbed some leftover dough from the freezer - because I just can't help making a quadruple batch. see? It comes in handy! Raspberry and Rhubarb Tart. About 8-9 stalks rhubarb. 1 1/2 cups raspberries.
