Friday, July 4, 2014. Mike and I have been having a great time in Yukon Territory and Haines, AK! I was able to capture a few pics of a black bear, a grizzly (which ended up a bit blurry because I wasn't using a tripod), an eagle, a seal and some of the beautiful scenery we passed on our drive today. Tomorrow, we will be going to the Bald Eagle Sanctuary. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Dave and Mandy's Blog. Denali: The Great One. From Whitehorse to Home! Sunday, August 18, 2013. Mike, Chuck, Dawn and I were invited to drive three hours north and east of Fairbanks to the small "road system" village of Central for a vegetable harvest feed. The drive was filled with beautiful scenery and the feed was filled with yummy vegetables. Flowers were also in abundance, which you will see at the end of the post! Nothing but food, fun and fellowship abounded on this adventurous trip to Central, Alaska! Sunday, August 11, 2013. However, my work is not done! 6 Jars: My...

Monday, July 7, 2014. From Haines to Juneau: A Plethora of Stuff! Mike and I saw some incredible sights on our trip on the Fjords Express from Haines to Juneau. On the 2 hour "cruise" we spotted a pod of orcas, a mass breaching of sea lions (we smelled them, too), Eldred Rock Lighthouse (100 years old) and a host of other fun things. Check out the pictures below! Sights Along the Way. July 6th was the opening day for commercial salmon fishing. Boats were out in full force! Pod of Orcas (AKA KillerWhales).

Sunday, March 23, 2014. Big Island: Flowers, Waterfalls and Stars! Tuesday, March 18, 2014. Big Island Moon and Whales. Mike and I scored big today with our hunt for the moon whales. At 4:30 am, the moon was high in the sky and just begging to be photographed. After a 2 1/2 mile walk, we got ready and headed to the beach to look for whales. While we saw some very weird things at the beach, this was definitely the highlight! Monday, March 17, 2014. Big Island Birds, Turtles and Water! Mike and I had a fun...

Living in Alaska: December 2013
http://moving2ak.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 30, 2013. Stars over North Pole. Mike and I braved the 22 below zero temperatures to venture out to photograph some night time scenes. We started at Pioneer Park for a couple of quick shots and then headed home to catch some stunning images of the stars. Thank you, Mike, for holding that flashlight so that I could watch the timer on my camera! Sunday, December 22, 2013. Wow, December is flying by at the speed of light! I cannot believe that Christmas is in three, yes three days!

Living in Alaska: December 2012
http://moving2ak.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 31, 2012. December in North Pole, Alaska is typically very cold. In fact, there have been New Year's Eves that have hit 40 to 50 below. Today was not one of those days. Mike and I took advantage of the unseasonably warm temperatures (20 above zero) and went to Christmas in Ice. What is Christmas in Ice? Then, out of those chunks of frozen water come some the most of amazing works of art! Thursday, December 20, 2012. Since Mike's parents live in San Jose, we are staying with them while Ab...
