We are delighted to have two firms working with us (free of charge) to replace Dawney Bridge - the ancient crossing over Shires Beck in the middle of our site. Dawney Bridge was a vital crossing point when the Forest of Galtres was a hunting ground for kings - ancient records show peasants were fined for failing to maintain it in good order. Hopefully there will be a new bridge there before long - more details soon! Easingwold Outdoor Centre is owned. By 1st Easingwold (Forest of Galtres) Scout Group.

Booking information will be available for download soon. The Easingwold Outdoor Centre is available for pre-booked supervised groups of young people and for community groups of all ages. The Centre can be booked for an hour, for part of a day, for an evening or for overnight camping use. Local schools, nursery schools and youth groups pay just 1 per person for day time use. Evening only use of the site is from 8 per hour. Overnight group camping is 3 per person.

The project to improve the Centre is being steered by a community committee set up following a public meeting held in Easingwold in October 2010. And architect Philip Rickinson. Are providing their services for free, while Spencer Cassidy. Is acting as an unpaid consultant to advise on how to provide energy with as little impact on the environment as possible.
