Brought to you by the Downeast Rover, the premier Outer Banks sailing experience! Tuesday, April 19, 2011. The 2011 OBX sailing season starts today! Today marks the first sailing trip of 2011 for the Rover! We’re launching the schooner from Wanchese, N.C., this morning and then sailing a short distance to the Manteo marina to prepare for two trips – one with 20 guests at 2 pm and one at sunset with about 10 guests. Captain Eric Snyder will be at the helm for both trips. The National Weather Service report.
OBX - Outer Banks Sand Fencing - Dune & Beach Restoration.
Outer Banks (OBX) Sand Fence. We install sand fencing in the Outer Banks according to the following guidelines:. The sand fence must be no taller than 5 feet and built from evenly spaced thin wooden vertical slats connected with twisted wire. The sand fence must be placed as far landward as possible to avoid interference with sea turtle nesting, public access and use of the beach. It must not be placed on the wet-sand beach. Information Center for all issues important on the 4wd beaches of the Outer Banks.
