outside the windows

Close encounters inside a remote northern California bookstore. Saturday, February 21, 2015. Walking under the newly blossomed plum trees, watching the happy bees of this false spring, I found myself recalling a fragment of a poem I wrote maybe 30 years ago. Possibly more. I don’t even recall the rest of the poem, which likely sits in one of my crumbling notebooks and. Maybe I’ll do that. Probably not. The words are impermanence alone is fixed . outside the windows: January 2006

http://outsidethewindows.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html

Close encounters inside a remote northern California bookstore. Friday, January 27, 2006. Another women in black friday. Or today, woman in black with flickering candle. Sometimes there are a few of us, and sometimes I stand alone, at the edge of the sidewalk, near the wall by the parking lot, facing the main street. I stand from 5 in the evening until 6, each Friday. We are not adverse to having men stand with us. This veteran stood with us for months, before he became too ill to stand. Sure thing, I sa...

Close encounters inside a remote northern California bookstore. Friday, September 16, 2005. What strikes me, as I read other blogs at random, is how many they are, and from so many countries. I envision folks bent over their keyboards, typing out their souls, their favorite songs, their problems, and now and then (don't you hate the spam sites? Some cleverly disguised commercial. All these words, all these souls, all these visions. And we briefly pass in the cyberworld. Kind of makes me catch my breath.

http://outsidethewindows.blogspot.com/2014/03/the-stars-are-not-all-falling-down.html

Close encounters inside a remote northern California bookstore. Monday, March 31, 2014. The Stars Are Not All Falling Down. I sleep best when the rain is falling. The world is reduced to a small center the rain, the sound of my son’s oxygen supply making it to his lungs and heart, the purr of whatever wet cat has decided to curl up against my back, the snuffles and settling of the aging, valiant pitbull.these keep me lulled at the heart of a seemingly safe center. These dreams are obvious, and my anxieti...

http://outsidethewindows.blogspot.com/2014/12/normal-0-false-false-false-en-us-x-none.html

Close encounters inside a remote northern California bookstore. Tuesday, December 09, 2014. It wasn’t quite the wolf at the door. Still, the sound was huge, demanding, and scary. And now, at the door, these heavy thuds. To tell the truth, I figured it might be my partner, back from the woods with armloads of firewood, annoyed at the locked door and unable to reach his key. So I rushed out, inwardly swearing at his impatience, but glad at the prospect of a warm fire. I think it is probably my own inner wo...
