https://adventureswithbessie.wordpress.com/2016/07/01/up-hill-and-down-dale
The adventures begin…. Fluffy babies – the next generation…. A journey round an island. Up hill and down dale…. Asymp; 7 Comments. Today we have chosen to travel across the Yorkshire Dales towards our next campsite near Garstang in Lancashire. Good decision! First of all, we passed through Ravensworth again and I managed to take a few more photos of the Castle. One of the many small bridges we encountered. How odd to see an Oystercatcher so far from the sea! Haven’t seen a Thistle since Scotland. The via...

Today’s blog will contain the rest of yesterday’s journey and also our quiet day photographs at the farm. Still plenty of photos! Early evening sun and wonderful landscape. Having left the pleasant town of Brampton, we drove on to Yorkshire and Park Top Farm. This castle looks interesting in the village of Ravensworth – more on this tomorrow! There is only one other couple...

The adventures begin…. Fluffy babies – the next generation…. A journey round an island. Now for something completely different…. Asymp; 8 Comments. Now that Scotland is almost just a lovely memory and we’re making the slow trek down south, it is tempting to think that it’s all over. Not at all. We have the beautiful Border country to drive through first to extend our Scottish idyll. Some photos of the journey…. In actual fact, not just one emu but two! We imagine that the one on the left is the female.

The adventures begin…. Fluffy babies – the next generation…. A journey round an island. From stone walls to stained glass…. Asymp; 10 Comments. In the centre at the bottom is the Pelican tearing her breast to feed her young, a metaphor for Jesus dying on the cross. Even if you’re not particularly religous you can’t fail to be amazed at the sheer vibrancy of the colours. A collage of the other stained glass:. Larr; Previous post. The adventures begin…. Fluffy babies – the next generation…. A journey round an island. Bute, a miniature marvel…. Asymp; 2 Comments. As I noted in the last edition of this blog, we caught the first ferry over to the Isle of Bute, fully intending to spend the day looking around. From here it was but a short journey to the capital, Rothesay, an interesting looking little town. Some beautiful decorative ironwork. So we travelled on and I took photos of this neat little island and its inhabitants. You are c...

The adventures begin…. Fluffy babies – the next generation…. A journey round an island. On the trail of Mr Mackintosh…. Asymp; 4 Comments. Today we were very excited and arranged a taxi to pick us up to take us into Glasgow. We wanted to get onto the 10am tour of The Mackintosh House at the Hunterian Art Gallery. But first we had to find it! Eventually we found the correct building not too far away…. I think he was definitely ahead of his time. We had some light refreshment and then made a beeline for it...

The adventures begin…. Fluffy babies – the next generation…. A journey round an island. Asymp; 6 Comments. I took this photo from the heavily wooded garden and luckily it wasn’t actually raining at this point as it did later. We were too late for the Rhododendrons but there were still some colourful flowers on the banks and there was always the River Debdon winding its way through, creating miniature falls. You can click the individual photos to see them more clearly. Larr; Previous post. Next post →.

Another Mackintosh day today and we took Bessie in to Glasgow, this time heading for Bellahouston Park, which turned out to be a delightful place. Getting there we passed by Rangers Football Ground at Ibrox Park. Let me explain…. An explanation from the website but the photos are mine:.
