PLAIN ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE. Ever since the flowery French conquered the earthy Anglo-Saxons in 1066, English speakers have thought it cooler to sound sophisticated than clear. Take Bill Gates. He wanted to say that the internet had cut out the middle man. But he said, The middle man has been disintermediated. Very sophisticated. Not very clear. Buddhists, on the other hand, think simplicity. Wrong But it's worth mastering. Clients love clarity. Plain English As A Second Language.

I've been making ads on and off since 1977. I worked in 'general practice' in agencies till 1989, then specialised in radio. I owned Padded Sell Studio between 1994 and 2000. In 2005 I created the billboards and TV ads that helped the NZ National Party nearly steal what most experts said was an unwinnable election. This was my first crack at outdoor. But I had made political ads - for Labour! Of course, I'll first need to interrogate you till you confess to your strengths. Lunch?

Monday, February 18, 2008. At first I was too nervous to lock it back on the rack at our condo, but the day after my first ride, I got over it. I also got a titanium u-lock. Ive got to take it in for a tune-up- theres a new clicking noise associated with pedaling and the fork is a little loose- but not for the next couple of days.
