I’m just finishing up Week 3 of what is going to be a 20-week marathon training cycle. I love marathon training. It requires a lot of discipline, which I enjoy. There’s a sameness to the weeks that I find soothing, even as the runs themselves get more and more difficult. I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned it once (or maybe 30 times) before – I really, really. Routines are safe. And comfortable. There are no surprises and no risks. Which, of course, is the problem. Risks are what makes life worth living.
