An Aspiring Photographer's Blog. First shoot with my flash gun. August 4, 2015. Okay so I got myself a flash gun. I still haven’t got the hang of using it but I did a photoshoot of some flowers. I think they came out pretty well. I used a white piece of paper as the back drop and a silver reflector. I found it difficult to not get a shadow in the frame but I found that by raising my aperture I got rid of the dreaded shadow. What do you think? Its amazing what you can do with Hair Gel :).

An Aspiring Photographer's Blog. Its amazing what you can do with Hair Gel :). July 21, 2015. June 13, 2016. For this project I used backlighting. Backlighting is a great way to reveal normally unseen details in all sorts of subject. It works particularly well with translucent items. For this project I used thinly sliced fruit and green hair gel. I filled a clear casserole dish with hair gel lemon slices and kiwi slices. I then placed a lamp underneath the casserole dish to create back lighting.

An Aspiring Photographer's Blog. Practice: Making a splash without flash. July 19, 2015. June 13, 2016. This is my first attempt of capturing a splash using natural sunlight. This was a very simple shoot, although I still have a few adjustments and improvements to make for my next try. All I used was a camera, a tripod, a glass of water and some fruit. I used Shutter Priority Mode on my camera with an ISO of 100. I set my shutter speed to 1/1000s. These are the resultant images:. Posted in: Personal Work.
