Jaymee's Germany Journal: Whoops...
http://jaymeesgermanyjournal.blogspot.com/2015/04/whoops.html
Sunday, April 19, 2015. Guess who has two thumbs and sucks at keeping to a schedule? Anyway, things have been going well. I've been pretty busy the last few months with work and my personal life. My trip to Europe (well, mostly Germany) is coming up in just over a month to the date. Which is really exciting. Actually, did I even mention my trip before now? In case I haven't, here's the gist of what I've got planned. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Exchange / Au Pair Blogs.

Jaymee's Germany Journal: Witzige/Wichtige Worte on Wednesday XI: Bleigießen
http://jaymeesgermanyjournal.blogspot.com/2014/12/witzigewichtige-worte-on-wednesday-xi.html
Wednesday, December 31, 2014. Witzige/Wichtige Worte on Wednesday XI: Bleigießen. Since this term has no real translation, I'll just explain it to you. Bleigießen. Kits can be inexpensively purchased, complete with spoon, tin pieces and a list of possible shapes and their meanings. Typically, the tin pieces come in the form of some good luck symbol (a pig, a bag of money, a mushroom, etc.). This is what my mushroom turned into:. I kind of think it looks like a jellyfish. Or maybe a squirrel? Witzige/Wich...

Jaymee's Germany Journal: August 2012
http://jaymeesgermanyjournal.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 8, 2012. One Week in America. So, I've been back in the States since a week. I have to say, it's kind of a weird feeling. It almost feels as though my exchange never happened, like I was never really in Germany. Or like I was only gone for a few weeks. In retrospect, it all seems to have gone by so. But I'm starting to get used to it again. The flight to Milwaukee took just about 20 minutes, and they flew by (no pun intended)! At the moment, I guess I'd have to say I'm pretty glad to be...

Jaymee's Germany Journal: July 2012
http://jaymeesgermanyjournal.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 25, 2012. Ich Liebe Diese Tage. So, I've got just seven days left in this country. Unbelievable. This year has gone by so fast. I've experienced so much and have really had the best times of my life. Summer has finally come - for this week at least - and I've been to the lake almost every day this week. I've even managed to get a bit of color without turning into a lobster! There's a German song that fits perfectly to these perfect days. Here's my translation:. Diese Tage - KRIS. Enjoy th...

Jaymee's Germany Journal: June 2012
http://jaymeesgermanyjournal.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, June 27, 2012. Wow I've just got a little more than a month (to the day) left in this country, but I don't want to make a post about that just yet. What I do want to post about is that I am 6 posts away from hitting the 100 mark. So, what I am going to do I make one post a week until I reach that mark. This is sort of a lame, filler-week, but I also wanted to let you guys know about my up-coming plans for the next couple of days/weeks. Well, that's all I've got for this week! The hostel we sta...

Jaymee's Germany Journal: 12 Days of Christmas Day 12: Presents
http://jaymeesgermanyjournal.blogspot.com/2014/12/12-days-of-christmas-day-12-presents.html
Thursday, December 25, 2014. 12 Days of Christmas Day 12: Presents. Now, we all know that getting (and giving! Presents is great, and a huge part of the season, but I'm not here to talk about the gifts themselves. I'd like to talk about when the gift-giving actually happens. In a previous post, I talked about how Santa comes the night of December 24th in both countries. That wasn't entirely accurate. In Germany, der Weihnachtsmann. I hope you all have a very merry Christmas! I am a young, 20-something tr...

Jaymee's Germany Journal: September 2014
http://jaymeesgermanyjournal.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 20, 2014. New (probably not original) Idea. Since my life has become "normal" and not really Germany-related (which means I don't have much material to post here), I've decided to do something I'll call Witzige/Wichtige Worte on Wednesday. Every Wednesday, I'll be writing about a German word or phrase I find useful or funny. I may or may not be also posting a story or anecdote to go with it. It'll be a surprise every time! Jaymee's Germany Journal: Witzige/Wichtige Worte on Wednesday XIII: Was heißt...?
http://jaymeesgermanyjournal.blogspot.com/2015/01/witzigewichtige-worte-on-wednesday-xiii.html
Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Witzige/Wichtige Worte on Wednesday XIII: Was heißt? How do you say. (in German/English/whatever-other-language)? The above translation is what I would consider the "traditional" translation. This is, however, another way to use this phrase, and it's something I seem to continue to think/say to myself all the time. It can be used in a sort of rhetorical manner to express that an adjective is a little excessive or not quite the right word. Let me explain. You: Naja, was heißt.
