Our experiences in home school education with our daughter. Monday, November 10, 2008. Remembrance Day - In Flanders Fields. Katerina's homeschooling is keeping me busy. She's progressing very well, and is already about halfway through the Grade 1 curriculum. She loves the math and science, but isn't too fond of English. Here's a video of Katerina reading the Remembrance Day poem "In Flanders Fields" by John McCrae:. Posted by Kenneth Lagerstrom at 4:18 PM. Links to this post. Burnaby, BC, Canada.

Home Schooling: September 2008
http://homeschoolchild.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Our experiences in home school education with our daughter. Monday, September 15, 2008. In BC, homeschooled children need to be registered with an accredited school, and this must be completed by September 30. We heard back from her local public school this morning, and got everything finished by about 1:00. The school secretary has been working there for 10 years, yet Katerina is the very first homeschooled child she has ever registered for kindergarten. Posted by Kenneth Lagerstrom at 2:09 PM.

Home Schooling: November 2006

Our experiences in home school education with our daughter. Sunday, November 19, 2006. It's a relief that many of our challenges and concerns are being addressed a year or two before we're ready for them. Some things are difficult to explain to a child, but necessary. One example is educating Katerina about online predators. She doesn't have her own email or chat with anyone yet, but I'm sure that will happen soon enough. A great new resource is the Bad Guy Patrol. Labels: Bad Guy Patrol. I certainly don...

Our experiences in home school education with our daughter. Sunday, August 05, 2007. Red Lorry, Yellow Lorry. Today I was searching for some good articulation and enunciation exercises for myself and Katerina to work on, and found a few of my old favorites. (Most of the best ones seem to be just common tongue-twisters.) We had lots of laughs stumbling over the words and rhymes together. Posted by Kenneth Lagerstrom at 9:16 AM. Links to this post. Home Schooling: June 2007
http://homeschoolchild.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html
Our experiences in home school education with our daughter. Friday, June 15, 2007. One Year to Go. Katerina just turned 4 years old, so next year she officially starts home schooling. We've told Katerina's grandparents of our decision to home school. My parents weren't overly thrilled, but they were surprisingly supportive - (I had expected a big battle there.). My wife's parents thought it was a great decision, so long as she keeps getting to socialize as much as she has been. Links to this post.

Our experiences in home school education with our daughter. Monday, October 23, 2006. Home School or Public School - A Difficult Decision. A lot of thought has already gone into our decision whether to home school or not. So many things to consider. Overall, I expect home schooling to mean a LOT more work for us as parents. Probably much more expensive as well. Posted by Kenneth Lagerstrom at 2:14 PM. Links to this post. Home Schooling Starts Before Kindergarten. More than once I've been advised to work ...
