Since 2004, PALPS volunteers, along with the Town of Fort Erie, have led over 2500 visitors on guided tours of the lighthouse. Visitors have come from both sides of the international border - from Quebec to British Columbia, from New York to California. Visitors travel by mini bus on a scenic 10 minute ride to the lighthouse where our guides present a brief history. Photos - Then and Now. The lightstation remained in operation from 1918 until 1995. Within two years the site was declared surplus and most of its machinery removed. The last keeper, Lewis Anderson, remained as caretaker for a couple of years, and then the site was vacated. Learn More about PALPS. Photos from the Tour.
