http://thedeathwriter.blogspot.com/2014/10/what-is-end-of-life-doula.html
Monday, October 13, 2014. What is an End of Life Doula? A few months back, I read a wonderful essay. On Salon.com about Mara Altman's experience as an end of life doula. I'd never heard of a death doula, so I wanted to talk to her about it. We have doulas for birth, why not for the end of our life? I think it's a wonderful step towards death acceptance in our culture. DW: What is a death doula? DW: What made you want to become a death doula? DW: What was the training like? 8221; and “ Bearded Lady. 8221;...

Monday, September 16, 2013. Monday Mourning: The Death of my Aunt. Who was the person that died? How old were you at the time? She died on Labor day of this year, which makes me 15,722 days old. How old was the person? Was it a sudden death or did you know it was going to happen? Her health had been declining for the past five years. She entered hospice a few months ago. Did you and the person talk about their death? Had you experienced any other deaths in your personal life before this person died?

The Death Writer: August 2014
http://thedeathwriter.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 22, 2014. On August 10, my brother-in-law was out celebrating his 20th wedding anniversary with his wife. In the middle of dinner, he received a call from his heart surgeon. He had two hours to get to the hospital as a donor heart was available. Jason received his new heart, but he has experienced many complications and is still in the ICU. His family could really use the help right now. If you'd like to read about his family and make a donation, click here. Links to this post. By Chuck Pa...

The Lives and Crimes of Folsom Prison's Executed Men. Category Archives: Prison Today. July 10, 2012. You’ve Just Been Exonerated . . . Now What Are You Going To Do? Two men leave a prison. One’s been released on parole, the other was exonerated. One has a $100 debit card, a job lined up, and a room at a halfway house. The other man has empty pockets, is unemployed, and hopefully some friends or family to give him a place to sleep. I came across this article. Tags: compensation for exonerated. Brian Pric...

The Death Writer: November 2014
http://thedeathwriter.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 3, 2014. I don't watch a lot of television, but earlier this year I watched the entire Breaking Bad. Series in about three weeks. What made the show so initially compelling for me was Walter White's decision to not undergo chemotherapy. He wanted to die on his own terms. (And he does, but I don't want to give away any spoilers.). Understandably, his pregnant wife was upset with that choice. Had Walt not succumbed to her wishes, Breaking Bad. This past weekend Brittany Maynard. Houston - ...

It is also December 1, which means that in the next few weeks many Americans are going to be decorating their houses for whatever holiday they celebrate, shopping for the perfect gift and eating more than usual. But today, it's all about buying stuff online at a discount. I am going to propose something a little different. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
