Drinking from the Well

Drinking from the Well. Thursday, August 13, 2015. Why I'm Leaving My Church. I was sitting in the Wednesday night prayer service the week before we left for Canada. Brother Brian went to his son Daniel’s baccalaureate service at the high school, and Greg Land was speaking. As he began to talk he said, “Brian asked me if I would preach for him tonight. I told him, ‘I’m no preacher but I can speak.’”. That thought was “I’ll never be asked to speak like this in my church.”. I just know there is a better pl...

Drinking from the Well: Our Youngest Volunteers

http://www.pamkiper.blogspot.com/2015/08/our-youngest-volunteers.html

Drinking from the Well. Friday, August 7, 2015. Earlier this summer I wrote a post called “What Makes COTW Different.”. There’s something else that I find pretty unique about Camp of the Woods ministry. It’s the fact that whole families can serve here, and even the youngest members of the family can make a great contribution to the work that must be done here during camp weeks. They have filled in the gaps when our summer staff was short. Here are some of them at work. And worked in the kitchen. What a b...

Drinking from the Well: July 2014

http://www.pamkiper.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Drinking from the Well. Saturday, July 19, 2014. This has been a difficult week. There have been so many things to deal with, some of them good and some of them bad. This week of camp was the biggest of the summer. We had 66 campers (max is 72). Fortunately we had a group of about 20 from North Carolina join us, and they helped lighten the load. They reinforced the kitchen work and the cleaning load, as well as joining in to help with activities for the campers. Some of them prayed to receive Christ.

Drinking from the Well: Remembering the Miracles of the Past

http://www.pamkiper.blogspot.com/2015/07/remembering-miracles-of-past.html

Drinking from the Well. Sunday, July 26, 2015. Remembering the Miracles of the Past. 8220;I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.”. This is one of the verses that we have had the kids memorizing this summer as part of our program. We have been using archaeology as the theme of our lessons, talking about Elijah, Moses and other prophets that God used to show His power in the world, and then relating it to how God shows His power in the world today. I tell the...

Drinking from the Well: What Makes COTW Different

http://www.pamkiper.blogspot.com/2015/07/what-makes-cotw-different.html

Drinking from the Well. Saturday, July 11, 2015. What Makes COTW Different. Each week on Friday evening we have a session where everyone talks about the week and what's been happening with the campers. During that time we hear from all aspects of the ministry, and the people who work behind the scenes get to hear what's been happening on the front lines with the kids. Sometimes when we turn them out to do this, we think, "Are they really ready for this? Can we trust them with this great responsibility?

2 towns; 1 conversation. May 18, 2010. Love Thy Neighbor…. Posted by kbberryman under Thoughts for A Day Such as This. I spent most of my childhood living in the “country” with practically no neighbors. I now live in almost the center of Wichita. Having neighbors has been an interesting experience for Ben and myself. Jesus said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and being and love your neighbor as you love yourself.”. But, who is my neighbor? What about the students in my classroom?
