A Mealy Apple: August 2009
http://amealyapple.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
In which I document my travels, my outrages, and my delights. Monday, August 31, 2009. Right now is my in-between time. I've returned from India, and I haven't yet left for London. I'm neither here nor there. In fact, I'm in Buffalo, my personal purgatory. I haven't much to do here, so I'm going to try to make a few batches of cupcakes and try some new recipes. For my first batch, I stuck to the classics and made some vanilla cupcakes garnished with evening glories from my front garden. I have high stand...

A Mealy Apple: Prague, or The Prettiest City You Ever Did See
http://amealyapple.blogspot.com/2009/12/prague-or-prettiest-city-you-ever-did.html
In which I document my travels, my outrages, and my delights. Wednesday, December 30, 2009. Prague, or The Prettiest City You Ever Did See. Prague was golden, beautiful, picturesque. It was also unbearably cold, which certainly put a damper on my sight-seeing abilities. But it's small; it's manageable; its subway system is so easy to use that it's almost child-like. The thing about Prague that you realize soon after arriving is that it's One of Those Cities Where You Can't Find the Things You Want. Thank...

A Mealy Apple: You haven't gotten bigger.
http://amealyapple.blogspot.com/2010/01/you-havent-gotten-bigger.html
In which I document my travels, my outrages, and my delights. Wednesday, January 20, 2010. You haven't gotten bigger. Today I saw several buses bearing the simple reminder that "Creme Egg season is here." Cadbury Creme Eggs. Only sold from New Year's Day to Easter Day annually, had completely slipped my mind until now. These delicious little buddies are my favorite thing about Easter, along with butter lambs. A bizarre metaphor for Jesus' rise from the dead. But Cadbury is also making headlines.

A Mealy Apple: George Szirtes, "Dressing"
http://amealyapple.blogspot.com/2010/02/george-szirtes-dressing.html
In which I document my travels, my outrages, and my delights. Tuesday, February 16, 2010. George Szirtes, "Dressing". Out of the dark a torso, more garment than flesh,. The weight of invisible breasts behind the high. Empire line and twist of cord; empty and fresh. As air. It is just waiting for you to try. The outfit on for size, to become woman. And fill it out without pondering the why. And how of it, to step into the common. Form-hugging sheath and gracefully undertake. Do you become who you are?

A Mealy Apple: July 2009
http://amealyapple.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
In which I document my travels, my outrages, and my delights. Sunday, July 26, 2009. And how was it, madam? In my latest adventure, I decided to treat Stephanie to a back massage before she left India as a way of saying thanks for all the help she's given me in settling in. I found a shop called "What Women Want", or "W3", and it seemed clean enough, with reasonable prices, so I made reservations for 2 back massages. From this experience, I learned two things:. Lay down please, madam," she said. The lady...

A Mealy Apple: Paris, or The City I Forgot to Tell You About
http://amealyapple.blogspot.com/2010/03/paris-or-city-i-forgot-to-tell-you.html
In which I document my travels, my outrages, and my delights. Wednesday, March 31, 2010. Paris, or The City I Forgot to Tell You About. At the beginning of January, Anna. And I embarked on a train journey to the City of Dreams, the City of Gastronomic Proportions, the City of Poetry on Snowy Cars. While we were there, we did some stuff. We saw a tower that glitters at night but not in the sun. We saw graves with kiss marks, and graves without kiss marks, and graves that look like someone's been sleep...

A Mealy Apple: November 2009
http://amealyapple.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
In which I document my travels, my outrages, and my delights. Sunday, November 29, 2009. Amidst the recent flurry of emotion and controversy at Wellesley, I intercepted the following e-mail from the Honor Code Council and the Wellesley administration, sent to a certain special somone.* (For those of you who don't go to Wellesley, or would just like to read a nice summary of the whole situation, see here. It's funny, concise, and contains direct quotes.). The Powers That Be". This is a lie. Go to Borough ...
