Some of us will definitely be there at 3.15, but if you have a class which doesnt finish until 4, we will still be around for at least an hour, probably more! From your own site.

Becomings and goings of (almost) a year in Uganda. Saturday, April 3, 2010. The high-pitched voices rang out like church bells, sometimes near-sounding but other times far-reaching and echoing through the neighborhood all the way up to my fourth-floor veranda. Damn, I thought, the local kids are doing it again, calling incessantly every time they see a mzungu. White person) leave their apartment and descend the outside stairs facing their houses on their way out to do whatever it is us mzungus. In the lo...

Becomings and goings of (almost) a year in Uganda. Monday, March 15, 2010. You have to understand, there are very few white people in Mbale, so when I see one here in Mbale I generally find myself staring at him or her as if they were an alien (and this is when I myself complain incessantly about feeling like an alien living here :) ). Smuggling – South Hams, Devon. Smuggling yesterday, today, tomorrow. The smuggling trade in Devon also lends itself to such a study. As Coxehead (1956) describes, many smugglers were able to mobilise whole villages to act as land smugglers (as well as large angry mobs against preventative officers (Gribble 1963). In fact, many villages acted together, in order to provide different services to the smugglers (Newcombe 1989), creating working relationships that emphasised each other’s strengths.

Smuggling – South Hams, Devon. Smuggling yesterday, today, tomorrow. In order to get some friendly competition going, I’m going to post a quiz question on smuggling everyday! Just post your answer below, and the winning answer will get a big round of applause! If it takes off, this may be upgraded to a lengthier quiz with the possibility of a t-shirt/mug or some other suitably awesome gift as a prize! 4/8/09: What was a wool smuggler called in the 18th century? There are my answers, now where is my prize!
Still Wanderings: October 2009
http://still-wanderings.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Becomings and goings of (almost) a year in Uganda. Saturday, October 24, 2009. From Nangoro to Mbale. Before transplanting myself from Nangoro Village to Mbale, the older Keki children took me on a hike to Bugwemagumbo, a cave formed of large rock slabs jutting out of the top of a hill near Nangoro village. The walls of the cave are burnt black by smoke and looking closely, one can make out faded drawings of the Star of David and a menorah. They are strengthening their members’ production base thro...
