Miscellaneous Passerines

Monday, December 31, 2007. The crow at left is a special treat for us. There is a family of white marked crows, and this one is the most interesting of designs. At our old home, the Evening. Was a rare sight, but here we have been fortunate to have resident Grosbeaks, including the family as they learned to 'hunt' food at the feeder. They became quite brave this past year, but disappeared with the colder weather. We look forward to their return. At left is a male Evening Grosbeak.

Miscellaneous Passerines: August 2007

http://www.passerines.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, August 30, 2007. One of the first birds that came to our attention, probably because of the raucous skwalling that comes out of their mouths, are the Stellar's Jays. What I love most about them is the color, especially in winter, when the garden needs a little brightening. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Raccoons and Other Furry Wildlife. Raccoons and Other Furry Wildlife: November 2006

September 17, 2008. That is like having a bunch of adolescents with too much time on their hands. One of Burtha's cubs is to the right, and below is a photo of both cubs passing behind the fir tree, just to show that these are the cubs, and that Momma bear is definitely a size to be reckoned with. Or "Where are your cubs so I don't walk between you and them? Unfortunately the road is a frequently travelled one, ( Seymour Mountain. There are other bears living in our woods, but they are a little more resp...

Raptors: Barred Owl

http://patsraptors.blogspot.com/2007/08/barred-owl.html

Sunday, August 26, 2007. Upon close inspection in daylight, we think this is a Barred Owl. She has been seen stalking our boys when they are on the deck at night. Shortly before the photo at left was taken, one of the squirrels in a nearby tree had obviously been traumatized while sleeping in the branches. Squirrels are not smart in that they make noise incessantly once they have been frightened, which, of course, allows the owl. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Raccoons and Other Furry Wildlife.

Last evening we were taking a drive through all the newly built area across the inlet from where we live, and I no longer think our place is. I look forward to adding photos. A second animal living in the woods next to us that has been too elusive for photographic capture is the bobcat. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Where's Dinner - What the Wildlife Eat. Raptors: Other Local Raptors

http://patsraptors.blogspot.com/2007/06/local-raptors.html

Sunday, June 24, 2007. This is, so far, the only shot I have of an eagle. Showing the white head that allows for identification. The eagle. Was a parent of the baby we found below their nest, lying in a city parking lot. My understanding was that there was a second baby in the nest, and I assume this parent was on guard while the other hunted for food. We have also seen a Golden Eagle. Because they lack the white head and tail, and have a slightly different wing span shape. Diabetic Cats Dietary Manageme...

Songbirds: Chickadees

http://localsongbirds.blogspot.com/2007/03/chickadees.html

The Chestnut Backed Chickadee. Is slightly smaller, and often chased out by the Black Capped Chickadee. If you start catering with chickadee food, the chances are that you. Today the Red Breasted Nuthatches. Finally came down out of the trees long enough, when the camera was handy, so here we finally have a photo to add to our collection of elusive birds. They seem to be hanging around as a pair. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Cornell Lab of Ornothology Webcam. Raccoons and Other Furry Wildlife. Diabetic Cats Dietary Management.

Perched Ponderings | …what goes on in my bird brain

8230;what goes on in my bird brain. Week 1 Treatment for Beacon. June 15, 2011. This photo was taken last Friday before we went to meet with the oncologist. Beacon’s definitely feeling out of it. He looks skinny here but it doesn’t really show just how easy it is to see his bones. He has a shaved spot on the other side of his body as well from where our regular vet tried to remove fluid when he had his tooth pulled. We keep calling these his windows! He has lost about 10 pounds since all of this started!
