The Professor and the Housewife: Milestones
http://theprofessorandthehousewife.blogspot.com/p/milestones.html
July 4, 2011. We Hold These Blogging Truths To Be Self Evident. This is a day of celebration, fireworks, and at least one blog anniversary. Exactly a year ago today we launched this venture and the lack of readership of our inaugural post taught us blogging rule # 1: No one is reading blogs on holidays. We assume you are reading this on July 5th at work. Don't worry; your secret is safe with us. Remember how we got here? Italy, Facebook, and Saving the World. Happy Fourth of July! There is a little story...

The Professor and the Housewife: Tidy Up Decisions
http://theprofessorandthehousewife.blogspot.com/2015/06/tidy-up-decisions.html
Sunday, June 28, 2015. A great summer story! Before we take our traditional summer soiree into lighter fare, let me “tidy up the place,” so to speak. The Supreme Court handed down what were termed surprise decisions this week. One essentially refused to give credence to a ridiculous argument about the Affordable Care Act, and the other removed restrictions on homosexuals legally marrying. While there is much that can and should be celebrated, let us peer through the curtain a bit:. Don't Hear Anything Bad.

The Professor and the Housewife: Be Brave and Spend
http://theprofessorandthehousewife.blogspot.com/2015/06/be-brave-and-spend.html
Thursday, June 18, 2015. Be Brave and Spend. The picture you paint, all too realistically I fear, is grim. And then I got all the way to the bottom of the post and saw that you have come to the same conclusion as me. Bernie Sanders is the only person running who is even bothering to address any of the real issues in an honest way. Bet you never thought you'd hear me say that! Is it just me or is the entire Republican party leftover from an 80s frat house? And people don't see solutions. They certainl...

The Professor and the Housewife: A Posting We Will Go...
http://theprofessorandthehousewife.blogspot.com/2011/06/posting-we-will-go.html
Sunday, June 12, 2011. A Posting We Will Go. I too, gentle commentator, am off to vacation, and one that has no elements of work within it, and books they shall accompany me for my reading pleasure! 8220;Pit stops to refuel” showcases the way we Americans sell ourselves short. Perpetual motion and activity machines we too often can be. At the end of the day (let alone the week, month, year, or decade), what has it gotten us? I thought Henry was awesome! The world needs a lot of people like him! My good M...

The Professor and the Housewife: Like Seeing the World, Do You?
http://theprofessorandthehousewife.blogspot.com/2013/07/like-seeing-world-do-you.html
Wednesday, July 24, 2013. Like Seeing the World, Do You? Your relating of travel experiences combined with food descriptions reminds me of Anthony Bourdain. Though the descriptions of your meals are a bit less adventurous than some of the things I've seen him eat in third world countries. I hope our readers are enjoying it as much as I am. Since I have little to add (in any light way) to this week's post of yours, I'm inserting a recent post from my own blog. Leave the judgement and uber nationalism at h...

The Professor and the Housewife: Book It, M!
http://theprofessorandthehousewife.blogspot.com/2015/07/book-it-m.html
Sunday, July 5, 2015. Book It, M! Am always up for a summer of books! Will follow whatever line you take! You don’t make this easy, as I have a lot competing in my head, lol. [Ten? How can I choose just ten? Okay, here goes. For the “favorites off the top of head” list, also in no particular order (I’ve taken the liberty of mentioning as one books that go together):. The Greatest Miracle in the World. Embraced By The Light. By Betty Eadie. A vivid near-death experience, and one of hope. A Man Called Peter.

The Professor and the Housewife: A Summer of Books
http://theprofessorandthehousewife.blogspot.com/2015/07/a-summer-of-books.html
Wednesday, July 1, 2015. A Summer of Books. We are launching into our summer lounge fest? Oh, thank goodness. I'm exhausted. We need to restore our reserves since we are headed into an election year. It never really ends anymore though, does it? So to introduce summer (which I wasn't trying to do in my last post, but okay) I'm listing ten favorite books. That sounded easy at first, a cop out almost, but then questions arose about which books to include. To the kids. More heroines. Charming ones. 9 The Fi...

The Professor and the Housewife: Thralldom of the Moment
http://theprofessorandthehousewife.blogspot.com/2013/04/thralldom-of-moment.html
Sunday, April 21, 2013. Thralldom of the Moment. We of modern America (and often the world) are interconnected, but not integrated. We are technological neighbors, but rarely sociological ones. And that brings big risks from the disaffected and disconnected or malconnected. The tragedy you well describe and evaluate is one that meets our psychological criteria of urgent and actionable. Unlike so much in life, in those situations the people feel they can do something effective, and RIGHT THEN. Selfish Man...

The Professor and the Housewife: The Power of Wildflowers and Paper Cranes
http://theprofessorandthehousewife.blogspot.com/2015/06/the-power-of-wildflowers-and-paper.html
Wednesday, June 24, 2015. The Power of Wildflowers and Paper Cranes. I'm certainly in the mood for something uplifting. I Am. Seems like a good place to start. I hope to check it out soon. Meanwhile, I for one needed a bit of hope this week. So here's my contribution. It's a rehash from my personal blog. Later in my room I thought about another random act by strangers that had filled me with intense joy. My friend and I scooped up the paper to see what it was and then looked back to the top of the bridge...
