There are numerous places which will appeal to a food and wine lover, including La Provence. Bedford Farms Ice Cream. It can be a fun and tasty way to spend an afternoon. There is also a new addition to this gourmet mecca, 80 Thoreau. I recently attended a blogger dinner at 80 Thoreau, and got to meet both owners, Ian Calhoun.

Sharing My Passion for Good Food, Wine, Saké and Spirits. Come Join Me and Satisfy Your Hunger and Thirst. Tuesday, February 10, 2015. Red's Best Seafood: Local, Traceable and Flexible. Eat More Domestic Seafood. Last summer, I posted these 3 Rules Of Eating Seafood. And they remain as important and relevant as ever. They are significant for so many reasons and our country would benefit greatly if more people followed these rules. I talked again about these points last week. Led by Jared Auerbach. To bui...

Sharing My Passion for Good Food, Wine, Saké and Spirits. Come Join Me and Satisfy Your Hunger and Thirst. Wednesday, February 25, 2009. Black Fly Stew: Wild Maine Recipes. I have previously eaten some exotic meats, including zebra, llama. And I am always open to trying other wild game and more unusual animals. So my interest was peaked when I learned that the next guest speaker at the monthly meeting of the Boston Wine Writer's. Would be Kate Krukowski Gooding. At the Boston Wine School. It is a trade-s...

Ldquo;Thank you for your detailed attention to our Italy trip.It was truly a trip of a lifetime. The connections were seamless. Venice was a Fairyland. Our rooms faced the Grand Canal and we were able to throw open the windows and take in the view.We were treated like special guests in each restaurant, and the first question asked was "who has the dairy allergy? I am truly grateful for this consideration. We ate and drank to our hearts content and walked so much, no one gained weight! Ldquo;Thank you so mu...
One Wine Per Week: changing direction, part one
http://www.onewineperweek.com/2014/09/changing-direction-part-one.html
Wednesday, September 3, 2014. Changing direction, part one. My son got married in June, and he and his bride honeymooned up in Napa Valley. They had an enjoyable as well as educational time which seems to have started them on the path of starting a small collection. I saw them when they returned and they gave me three bottles purchased during their journey. I was familiar with two of the wineries but had never heard of the third one. I thanked them for their generous gift. They figured something was good...
One Wine Per Week: changing direction, part two
http://www.onewineperweek.com/2014/09/changing-direction-part-two.html
Friday, September 5, 2014. Changing direction, part two. In my last post I mentioned how the gift of some very nice bottles of wine from my son and daughter in law influenced me to up my own wine budget. Around that same time, I received an e-mail from Tablas Creek Vineyards. Announcing the they had recently inaugurated a couple of new wine club options, that of red only and white only. Now wait a minute, in my previous post didn't I say Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays were my favorites? If you would like to...
One Wine Per Week: June 2012
http://www.onewineperweek.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, June 23, 2012. Vissani Wine Cooler / Fridge. Before I started writing this post I looked at my archive stats. Pretty pitiful. One post earlier this year. One in 2011. One in 2010. A few in 2009. A flurry in 2008 and 2007. I'm like in Sunset Boulevard, a blogger who has seen better days, haha. Well today I just felt like writing, so make it at least two (2) posts for 2012! How good could something like that be? I am too lazy to take a picture of it, but here's one I stole from Home Depot's page:.
One Wine Per Week: August 2013
http://www.onewineperweek.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 24, 2013. 2009 Villa Antinori Toscana. I'd see this wine in the bin at Costco every week and finally I decided to put one in my cart. It was $13.99. The Toscana was a nice dark purple color. Aromas were initially pretty muted, of earthy berries. I took a sip and the first impression was of a rather thin wine, more earth and minerals and stingy with the fruit, with a tannic bite. I thought maybe it needs some air. Sunday, August 18, 2013. In the mouth the first impression was of zingy aci...
One Wine Per Week: Underground Cellar
http://www.onewineperweek.com/2014/09/underground-cellar.html
Thursday, September 18, 2014. I received an e-mail to my blog address from Brian at Underground Cellar. Asking if I'd be willing to share the latest news about his venture with my readers. For example, here is a screen shot for one of the featured wines, a 2009 Lake Sonoma Estate Zinfandel:. This particular wine is $21, shown above. Once you order and pay for it, however, you just might be the recipient of a random upgrade to one of the higher-priced bottles. It seems to be. They have reached the $1 ...
One Wine Per Week: July 2013
http://www.onewineperweek.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 31, 2013. Cameron Hughes Lot 326 Pinot Noir. In the past I hated writing tasting notes. Maybe I still do. I won't know until I finish writing this post, at which time I will let you know. Why do I hate writing tasting notes? I will sometimes read the notes people write for a particular wine over at Cellar Tracker. There's such a wide range of impressions and scores, so if you think about it, what is the point of reading all these reviews to try and decide if a wine is worth buying? The co...
One Wine Per Week: July 2014
http://www.onewineperweek.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 21, 2014. Wowzer Pinot Noir from Toretti's Family Vineyard. During a short vacation up north we visited several Costcos along the way. I spied the object of today's review at their Santa Maria location and thought about buying it but passed. After we left, even though I'd never heard of Toretti's Family Vineyard, I kept thinking I should have bought it because it seemed interesting. Don't ask me why some wines look more interesting than others; they just do. The good part: it was $18.99 ...
One Wine Per Week: power outage
http://www.onewineperweek.com/2014/09/power-outage.html
Tuesday, September 16, 2014. The other day a planned power outage notification came in the mail from Southern California Edison. Naturally the first thing I thought about was how this would affect the wines I keep in my three little wine coolers, especially given the hot summer we've had here in Southern California. The outage was scheduled for tomorrow - September 17th, from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm. Today when I got home from work, I discovered that SCE pulled a fast one and had the power outage today!

My Passion for Food. What or who inspires me to experiment, cook, sample, eat and enjoy good food. An exceptionally good restaurant! We are always on a mission to find a good restaurant and it’s not always easy, even in France. Sometimes the food is good but the service is lacking; on other occasions the décor and ambiance may not be right and then there’s always the crucial factor of value for money. There’s an awful lot of things to take into consideration when evaluating a restaurant. We opted for th...

From the outside, Classic Pizza. Looks like a typical pizza joint, nothing to differentiate it from many similar places.
