Having worked in Waikiki for many years and having gone to many luaus, the one food we tell every tourist to try is poi. For those of you not familiar with poi, it’s the mashed up root of the taro plant. It kind of has the consistency of wallpaper paste, and some will even tell you that it tastes like it too. The updated life of Zane, Leah, Harper and Sloane. Friday, May 31, 2013. Typically the month of May is very quiet here in Winter Park and I usually look forward to the down time before the tourists arrive after Memorial Day. This year was very different. We put our house on the market around Thanksgiving. Why? It is more awful with a 2 and 3 year old. It’s amazing how much stuff we had. When I was around 10years old, I had soccer practice twice a week at Hawaii Loa. The field is at the bottom of the campus and in order to use the restroom we’d have to take about a 5 minute walk uphill to the main building. Our coach would always send us in pairs or small groups for safety reasons. We would stuff coins in our shoes or fold bills to put in our socks. Gross, right? Earlier this month I went to Tokyo Disneyland for their Tanabata. Celebration.
