Pastor Susan's Blog

If the only prayer we ever say is 'Thank You,' It would be enough. Meister Eckhart. Tuesday, September 7, 2010. October 3rd, is World Communion Sunday. It is one of my two favorite worship celebrations of the year. I guess a minister's perspective is a little different. Christmas and Easter, as wonderful as they are, end up being exhausting too. The two celebrations that I hold dearest, though are World Communion and Pentecost. These speak to me of the current life of the church. Tuesday, July 20, 2010.

Pastor Susan's Blog: What does it take to be God's disciple?

http://pastorsusansblog.blogspot.com/2010/07/what-does-it-take-to-be-gods-disciple.html

If the only prayer we ever say is 'Thank You,' It would be enough. Meister Eckhart. Tuesday, July 20, 2010. What does it take to be God's disciple? Ability to see the big picture. Inclusive – no discriminating. Is loyal, steadfast. Staying ‘awake’ – being mindful. Steadfast, even in the face of personal threat. Ability to weep, be remorseful, to repent. Willingness to touch others. Ability to be moved with compassion. Willingness to disregard the rules for the sake of compassion or need. Being on the pat...

Pastor Susan's Blog: Enjoy the Irises

http://pastorsusansblog.blogspot.com/2010/04/enjoy-irises.html

If the only prayer we ever say is 'Thank You,' It would be enough. Meister Eckhart. Monday, April 12, 2010. The iris is a delicate plant that lasts longer on the stem than when it is clipped and put in a vase for show. One day it is beautiful, the next day is it withered and dying. They don't last long - but while they do, they make the most of it. The beauty is there in our own face and heart, in the hearts of others - take some precious time to see it, drink it in, and thank God for such amazing grace!

Pastor Susan's Blog: June 2010

http://pastorsusansblog.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

If the only prayer we ever say is 'Thank You,' It would be enough. Meister Eckhart. Wednesday, June 16, 2010. Many of us have watched the unfolding horror in the. Unfold with aching hearts. Pictures bring home just a small part of the reality of the threat and devastation. For me the picture that tore at my heart was a close up of a pelican, covered in brown oil, flailing in the water. Something about that picture of the pelican made it plain to me that God’s creation is groaning in pain and sorrow.

Pastor Susan | Living Life As a Woman In Ministry

Living Life As a Woman In Ministry. The Fast – A Wrap Up. I was able to think more clearly without distractions and I was able to hear more clearly without the other voices. Here is what I learned about myself:. 1 I joined the masses of people who are reading about the Enneagram. I read The Road Back To You and completed the study guide and discovered that I am an 8 who wings 7. Which may explain my thoughts on:. I read the about the #metoo campaign. What keeps us from using our voice? 8220;But you&#8217...

no more a stranger

Monday, November 15, 2010. We have come to the end of another liturgical year, and prepare now for Advent. We prepare for the most upside down gift of all: a God who comes to dwell with us in the form of a poor, helpless child born in obscurity to peasants. God came to us as 'one of the least of these'- and still does. In preparation we hope to become wise, and watchful, and ready. In both the Jewish and Christian Scriptures, divine judgment is the flip side of divine promise. To be renewed and recon...
