Archive for January, 2010. On 18 January 2010 Leave a Comment. I knitted a dishcloth. Here it is folded.*. Here it is not folded.*. I knitted on the diagonal starting at the corners, increasing to full width, and then decreasing back to the opposite corner. The pattern is from Knitting Pretty. The dishcloth turned out a tad janky looking, but I’m happy with it. The aim is to soon replace sponges and paper towels in my house with things that can be washed and reused instead of thrown away.

I dig a pony. Wowsa, it’s been a bit since I’ve posted. My summer is almost over, but I’ve been productive. That’s productive in the way of visiting friends and family and wedding planning, but not so much on keeping up with the blog. If you read my old blog, you would see one of my last posts was about me and my attempts at making Kombucha tea, yielding mixed results. Number one came out crazy tart and only produced one bottle. Two I didn't even bother drinking there was so little tea left, but I did have four scobys! Well, on to #3! These are the bottles from the third try- look, there is more than one! Mashed potatoes, fresh corn on the cob, biscuits. Maybe even a cherry pie. But today I am not feeling so hot, or actually a little hot. About 99.3 degrees. I followed it pretty much exactly, I have some ideas that I may try another time to make more of my own recipe (like this time I added a bit of tahini). I dig a pony. Best partner ever, and canoe race winners! For the third year in a row, Grant and I spent a glorious 3 days on the Buffalo River. This time, it was 4th of July weekend and we had 10 other folks to join us. We canoed, swam, ate brownies, drank whiskey lemonade and relished in the peace and quiet away from civilization and technology. I dig a pony. School is out, summer’s here, and I have so much going on! But before I get into all that, I want to share some photos from my last week of art classes. As some of you may know, I received art easels to use in Keystone’s Outdoor Classroom courtesy of Donors Choose. The most popular drawing subject was the pond. Contemplating composition in the Butterfly Garden- -so cute! Some chose to draw the storybook characters I painted earlier in the year. And my fourth float down the Buffalo River.

Attempts at making the chocolate candy, once with peanut butter. It sounded SO easy. Liars. The first try with PB was a simple recipe. Melt soy butter, mix with 1 cup peanut butter, add chocolate chips and four (4! 4 1/2 cups turbinado sugar. 18 ounces vegan chocolate. 1/2 lb extra virgin coconut oil. 1 pinch sea salt.
