Pat's Walkabout: It Began in Africa
http://patswalkabout.blogspot.com/2012/11/it-began-in-africa.html
Nov 19, 2012. It Began in Africa. Last week was Nickel Processing 2012 in Cape Town, South Africa. I will skip the details of the conference and go right into pictures. The entrance to the garden at the Vineyard Hotel. The hotel had 4 tortoises that wandered around the garden and sometimes into the ground floor of the hotel. They brazenly begged for scraps and were utterly unafraid of people. This one came right up to me when I sat down to take its picture. The view was worth it though. All the images, t...
Pat's Walkabout: Lamington Park
http://patswalkabout.blogspot.com/2013/01/lamington-park.html
Jan 4, 2013. Today Stu, James and I went for a hike through the Albert River circuit of Lamington National Park. It was a day of Australian wildlife. Wallabies in front of the car, leeches on my ankles, literally hundreds of face level spiderwebs, and then some more interesting stuff. An adult Lamington Spiny Crayfish. We kept spooking him (her? And he'd go into, 'What's up now, dog? Mode with his pincers up. This picture was after he calmed down and went back to fishing. Me at the same.
Pat's Walkabout: A Visitor from Canada
http://patswalkabout.blogspot.com/2012/05/marys-mother-june-has-been-visiting-us.html
May 13, 2012. A Visitor from Canada. Mary's mother June has been visiting us from Canada for the last few days, so we've been showing her around and doing the touristy stuff. Yesterday we were up at the Australia Zoo. We went up with a couple friends of ours and their kids. Everybody was getting close to the cute animals. As part of her birthday present from me, Mary first got to meet this charming fellow. It was pretty good for both her and Yoda, the fuzzy guy on her lap. Mary the echidna whisperer.
Pat's Walkabout: Aus Road Trip - Brisbane to Sydney
http://patswalkabout.blogspot.com/2013/03/aus-road-trip-brisbane-to-sydney.html
Mar 24, 2013. Aus Road Trip - Brisbane to Sydney. As many things do in the wet Brisbane summer, our road trip started with rain. Tropical Storm Oswald blew through Brisbane just a few nights before we left on our farewell to Australia road trip. The neighbours aluminium shed blew over the fence during the night of our going away party. A few days later we took off on this route, shown on google maps. Coffs Harbor was our first stop, home of The Big Banana. Mary was unimpressed that we didn't stop. A coup...

AJF-PhotoBlog: November 2009
http://ajf-photoblog.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 23, 2009. Couple of random shots. Here are two photos from the last couple of weeks. I have a new batch from around the West End to put up soon, but I haven't got around to it yet. While Nicole and I were waiting for the train to arrive in Seattle so that we could complete our journey home from SLC. I was amusing myself taking some moody black and white pictures of the interior of the station, when Nicole walked right in front of me; somewhat fortuitously, as it turned out! However, in t...

The Manhattan skyline, tantalisingly close across Long Island Sound. Long Island Sound itself is quite lovely on a sunny day. Detail of an iron fence on the Yale campus, New Haven. Posted by Adam F. Monday, September 28, 2009. Vive le Québec (libre)! Giant chess is a popular pastime in Place Émilie-Gamelin. The Bixi bike sharing operation is both stylish and functional. This guy was very focused on his camera. Québec City streetscape with gloomy sky. One of the many statues around Québec City. An ode to blue. For the history of the slogan). Posted by Adam F. Saturday, September 26, 2009. A Night in Toronto. Probably the most interesting view for me from the top of the CN Tower was looking down on th...

Saturday, May 22, 2010. BC Trip part #2. So, it's taken a while, but here is the second part of the BC trip, ranging from Smithers, up to Stewart on the border with Alaska and west to Prince Rupert. Nicole takes flight while snowshoeing on Hudson's Bay Mountain. A totem pole looks out over the river. I love the perspective in this shot of the pier in Hyder, AK, how the lines of the structure align with the mountains lining the fjord. Posted by Adam F. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Maligne Lake, frozen, and sparkling in the bright sunshine. Scattered Showers" HDR image taken while snowshoeing on Hudson's Bay mountain near Smithers. Posted by Adam F.

Thursday, June 25, 2009. So after an evening spent admiring the magnificent work of Andreas Gursky. At the Vancouver Art Gallery. My favourite was Engadin II, an incredible shot of a cross-country ski race), I headed out onto the darkening streets of Vancouver. BC Lions fans heading home. The older district of Beatty St, quite a contrast to Yaletown. I kind of had an aim to find a shot to add to the Film Noir Mood Flickr group. Posted by Adam F. Sunday, June 21, 2009. Festival d'été francophone Vancouver.

Friday, January 08, 2010. A winter's day at the Getty Center. What better way could there be to spend part of an 11 hour layover at LAX than to head out to the Getty Center via two buses? This was a welcome change from grey and rainy Vancouver, on the way to even sunnier days in Australia. And an excellent opportunity to use my newly acquired circular polarising filter. Looking over the garden. Looking up from the garden. The white of the waxing gibbous moon and the building against the ultramarine sky.
AJF-PhotoBlog: August 2009

Saturday, August 08, 2009. Last weekend featured both the Powell Street Festival (celebrating Japanese-Canadian culture) and the Vancouver Pride Festival. Both events afforded some good people watching opportunities. Some interesting East-meets-West clothing combinations, such as the Fan Man. This little girl was adorable, very interested in everything around her, including a snappy dog. Her Grandma had to continually hold her back, although she is releasing her in this picture. Posted by Adam F. Haven't...

As my eye moves from one newly discovered detail to the next in each flower, I am aware that I am witnessing beauty that is both fleeting and endless. My photography allows me to record this moment, and thus the beauty is rendered timeless.
