Monday, August 30, 2010. It was somewhat overcast when we finally boarded, but the moment we set off, the fog began to roll in. By the time we had rounded the headland, maybe 20 minutes out of port, the coast was becoming shrouded in but we did manage to get a few photos off before both thick fog, darkness, and the open sea obscured all that there was to see. Sunday, September 5, 2010. Perils of Driving in Newfoundland. In most of Newfoundland it is said that there is one moose for every two square kilometers. However, in Gros Morne National Park and up the western peninsula, the density increases to two or three moose for each square kilometer. That makes for a lot of moose! September 12, 2010 at 7:25 AM. It had been raining for several days just prior to our arrival, and our campsite was quite soggy - as was the firewood we bought at the campsite office. But, the sun came up and dried everything out and we had warm, bright days and mild nights for the duration of our stay. Tuesday, September 7, 2010. Capital of the world! Friday, September 3, 2010. Love at first bight! Bight: the bay formed by a bend or curve in the shoreline. We are back from our 8,oookm (5,000 mile) five-week roadtrip to Newfoundland. We had the absolute best time, didn't want to come home really. What a beautiful province! It has it all, from the lush mountains to the barren lands with no vegetation, the wildlife, the seafood, and a picturesque fishing village around every bend. Plant to represent it.
