I was originally looking at a drain but when I popped the manhole I could see the water level rising so decided not to play in drains as it rains. The mill is/was across the road from Tesco in Macc and the entry was amusing, there is work going on behind the derelict mill at the pylon but this mean secca were actually walking up and down the road. Return to main site. Thursday, 8 December 2011. No rain no drain needs to have a line added that when it's freezing cold no drains, I couldn't feel my toes when I got out. I only had an hour free to head out so I went over to follow more of the culverts around Buxton. The culvert is a large limestone affair with plenty of walking room, the water rushes in and will take a light tripod with it so if you head in be aware and watch your footing. I found a little friend so it wasn't a totally solo explore.

Return to main site. Wednesday, 27 June 2012. I had to go to the passport office in Liverpool but had loads of time before my appointment so decided to look into a lead I've had for a while. I've not seen any reports of this place so I've named it Drain of Wonders because I wonder why I crawled under the gated outfall for 300ft of RCP and a set of stair with a wall of fanny plasters. On with the pics. Well it is next to a Liverpool council estate :thumb. Couple of glow sticks chucked down a side pipe.

I had my camera on me so it would have been rude not to pop down :). It's only short but the slate inside makes for an interesting little culvert, it's just past the brickworks. Drive out of Buxton on the A6 (past the Morrisons) and a couple of minutes dwn the road you can't miss the imposing structure. First building is a bunker type building. Revolver is a small sewer overflow where the designers went a bit silly and added an access tunnel (which is gated and locked) two access shafts to the river below and the overflow chamber which has quite a few outfalls to the river.
