Paul Hagon ~ Music
https://www.paulhagon.com/category/music
Archive for the ‘Music’ Category. Forte: the National Library of Australia’s sheet music collection iPad app. Tuesday, March 26th, 2013. A man walks into a reading room, hands over his iPad and says “Hi, my name is Jake and I’ve built this”…. Let’s go back in time. In March 2011 the National Library placed a dataset of our sheet music collection. Up at data.gov.au. This was to be used as one of the datasets for the LibraryHack. Nearly 12 months later, totally out of the blue, someone walked into the read...
Paul Hagon ~ Trove WordPress plugin
https://www.paulhagon.com/2012/07/09/trove-wordpress-plugin
Flickr Commons turns 5. One of the fantastic resources in Trove. Is the digitised newspaper collection. We’ve seen people using the newspapers for research and republishing. There’s a couple of issues with this:. If the text that is copied hasn’t been corrected, if it ever gets updated in Trove it won’t get updated on their blogs. To make life easier for people using newspapers in Trove I’ve built a simple WordPress plugin based around the Trove API. 91;trove newspaper=2760597]. For helping me out with b...

Laquo; HTML5, iPads – Hot or not? A lot of good things happened this year at work. I was part of a national project called LibraryHack. To enable what I had been talking about for the past few years – opening up library collections to reuse through API’s. Migrated our website to Drupal. Was part of the team that built our first iPhone app – mobile catalogue. After 3 years in the making launched our Flickr Commons. In the north of Spain and was exposed to the wonders of Gaudi’s architecture. This came abo...

Paul Hagon ~ New Futures for Authority Data
https://www.paulhagon.com/libraries/2008/10/23/new-futures-for-authority-data
Laquo; Social networks and the Libraries Australia forum. Next Generation Library Catalogues. New Futures for Authority Data. These are notes from a talk by Thom Hickey from OCLC at the Libraries Australia Forum 2008. API’s will be used to provide multiple views, better context, better navigation, more mashups. Hardware has become interesting in the past couple of years with developments like the introduction of cheap low cost linux clusters (eg: 130 CPU clusters) where all of WorldCat. Their cataloguing...

I wasn't quite sure how to search for them. Regardless, I tried and I found a few promising results and selected one to try and look at. I don't know if this particular mashup. Has already been done, as I still can't access the course on WebCT. But at this point I have to post something. Paul (2008). Flickr.

Miss Sophie Mac: Game based learning or how to make learning fun
http://misssophiemac.blogspot.com/2011/06/game-based-learning-or-how-to-make.html
Wednesday, June 22, 2011. Game based learning or how to make learning fun. Last Sunday I wrote a guest post for the ALIA Sydney blog on Game Based Learning. I got quite carried away and still felt I had more to write so I'll try to add more things here as I find them. Here's the post (below) for those who missed it. Games are usually considered a leisure activity but increasingly they’re being used in learning environments to encourage experiential, active learning. For some reason they’v...In fact, the.
Miss Sophie Mac: Online security and protecting our data
http://misssophiemac.blogspot.com/2011/06/online-security-on-life-matters.html
Thursday, June 23, 2011. Online security and protecting our data. Should I be worried? This morning I heard an interesting ABC Radio Program on Life Matters called Hacking: why we need to worry about online security. At first I thought it was a bit of a scare campaign on things like online banking, shopping and paying bills. But it got me thinking? How much do I really think before I go wacking my credit card details into an online form? I guess I'm lucky so far? Has anyone been not so lucky? Check your ...

June 30th, 2017. It’s the end of June and the end of #blogjune. I can’t believe how quickly it went. At the start of the month I posted a few thoughts on what opportunities. Participating in this might bring, so now it’s time to reflect on the past month. I did accurately predict that I wouldn’t post every day – I managed on average every second day and I thought that was pretty good. I did tend to have a bunch of posts on a musical theme. I was thrilled when everyone became passionate about my proposal.
