Fabricollage: February 2012
http://fabricollage.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, 16 February 2012. It has been a long time since I did anything much with textiles. I have been engrossed in the process of moving house for months, and seem to have done little else except prepare for the move, move, and now I am trying to get the new flat to function well. The second piece is for the long drop above the staircase. We have a flat (apartment) all on one level except for these stairs to the roof terrace. The space is about fifteen feet ( Rod'. I am keen to get started. One mo...

the running wave: Open Studio
http://therunningwave.blogspot.com/2015/08/open-studio.html

The first weekend of every August, for the last twenty two years, these two artists have been opening their steading home and studios to the public. We were free to roam anywhere and everywhere, throughout the steading, into every building, each being an exhibition space. I loved her studio, with bits of work in progress. Even ...

The North-East of England is such a wonderful area for textiles. I have been to two specialist exhibitions recently: the first was ‘Quiltscapes and Quiltline’ by Pauline Burbidge, which ran from November 2015 to early April 2016, at the Bowes museum in Barnard Castle:. A number of sketchbooks were on display alongside the textiles, which clearly demonstrated how close observation of natural forms linked to the finished work. To see Pauline Burbidge’s website. And while you are in Bishop Auckland, you mig...
