To whom it may concern

To whom it may concern. Tuesday, 10 April 2018. The only marriage you need (Psalm 45). I want to begin by telling you of a wonderful love-story. It concerns John Newton, the writer of the hymn Amazing Grace, and his childhood sweetheart, Mary (Polly) Catlett. John and Polly’s mothers had been best-friends, and they had often delighted at the thought of the John and Polly eventually getting married. However, John’s mother died when he was only seven, and the families grew apart. She was shy but very kind.

To whom it may concern: Paisley: Sorry seems to be the hardest word

http://paulritchieblog.blogspot.com/2014/09/paisley-sorry-seems-to-be-hardest-word.html

To whom it may concern. Friday, 12 September 2014. Paisley: Sorry seems to be the hardest word. So Paisley died today. A truly enigmatic man. My attitude towards him has changed over time. To whom it may concern. Friday, September 12, 2014. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The problem of the super-spiritual Christian. I am trying not to write this post in anger, because super-spiritual people are hard to deal with.  I also realise that we need to be caref. Am I a troll? There is a difference between f...

To whom it may concern: Romance in Nigeria

http://paulritchieblog.blogspot.com/2008/07/romance-in-nigeria.html

To whom it may concern. Sunday, 13 July 2008. I am on a week's holiday in Killarney with Caroline and the kids. We are staying at my parents' house - Edgar and Jean Ritchie. I thought I would do a few interviews about their life. This first blog is about their meeting. Had your paths crossed before you got to know each other in Nigeria? Shortly after Jean arrived in Umuahia Edgar returned to Ireland on furlough. He returned six months later. He considered it unwise and probably dangerous.]. He arrived ea...

To whom it may concern: Unwarranted Guilt

http://paulritchieblog.blogspot.com/2009/11/unwarranted-guilt.html

To whom it may concern. Tuesday, 17 November 2009. There is a difference between feeling guilty and being guilty. People may suffer from a sense of guilt that is unwarranted. As Tony Ward (not the rugby player) points out:. How do we help people suffering from unwarranted feelings of guilt? We may need to allow them to confess. While we may be sure that their sense of guilt is unwarranted they may remain unconvinced. In such situations we can encourage them to bring their feelings of guilt to God...The p...

http://paulritchieblog.blogspot.com/2015/08/donnacha-ocallaghan-and-grace-filled.html

To whom it may concern. Friday, 7 August 2015. Donnacha O'Callaghan and a grace-filled start (Matthew 1:1-17). I am a Munster fan. So when Munster first won the European Cup I bought the book. It begins with Donnacha O’Callaghan speaking:. 8220;When I was a boy in Cork, playing rugby for my school, I came across something on the pitch one day after I’d scored a try. I bent down and picked it up: it was a holy cross, on a chain. I stuffed it into my pocket. The lads slag me over the jar. It was probably t...

To whom it may concern: The real pain of the young gay person

http://paulritchieblog.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-real-pain-of-young-gay-person.html

To whom it may concern. Friday, 15 May 2015. The real pain of the young gay person. The most moving article that I have read in the run up to the referendum is that by political correspondent, Ursula Halligan. She recalls her experiences of same-sex attraction, in nineteen seventies Ireland. At the age of seventeen she wrote in her diary, ‘there seems to be no one I can talk to, not even God.’. There were times that her struggle filled her with thoughts of death. As Ed Shaw (who is a same-sex attracted C...

Confessions of a Confused Worship Leader. Thoughts, stories and random ramblings from a confused worship leader. Sunday, 5 July 2009. I have issues - FACT! Its been a while. Its been really busy. One of the things that has kept me busy is the developments. With regards the worship team at the church. After months of study, prayer and lots of conversations. Created an environment of inconsistency. The music ministry of this fellowship merits a more professional. In his book 'Worship Matters' states that w...

Confessions of a Confused Worship Leader. Thoughts, stories and random ramblings from a confused worship leader. Tuesday, 25 January 2011. A Slap in the Face is Worth Two in the Hand (or How Spurgeon is determined to give me sleepless nights). The iniquities of our public worship, its hypocrisy, formality, lukewarmness, irreverence, wandering of heart and forgetfulness of God, what a full measure have we there! growing seasons: June 2008

Monday, 30 June 2008. Z is for ZEBRA. So the question is, are zebras black and white stripes, white with black stripes or black with white stripes? Sunday, 29 June 2008. V is for VOYAGE. What about the day his son came to him and said he wanted to leave? I wonder how often his dad tried to convince him not to go? I wonder how many sleepless nights he spent, hoping that things would be different? And what of Jacob? Because He let go for us. And because He loves us unconditionally. Saturday, 28 June 2008.

Freshly baked big plain loaves with the brown crust on top and lots of pan loaves wrapped in their Mother's Pride coats. But the choice was still simple. Plain or pan? The choice is less simple now. Sunday, 26 July 2009. D is for DONKEY. Donkeys gets a bad press sometimes and possibly not always without some basis for that criticism. They've crossed my path on many occasions and enough instances are memorable enough to be recorded in the annals of my own personal history. We had a favourite Christmas single at home, called 'Little Donkey' sung by, I think, Nina and Frederick and describing the journey of Mary and Joseph to Bethlehem. I don't recall it. It was a totally immense experience! Now there is no doubt there is a variety of opinions within the Christian family about whether or not you should go to clubs. My first experience of a big club in Ibiza was two years ago, see my previous post… here. There are a number of reasons the 24-7 teams go clubbing:. 8220;you’ve got to ...
