http://hellholediaries.blogspot.com/2011/08/this-is-why-i-plant-fennel.html
Wednesday, August 31, 2011. This is why i plant fennel. I am finally back here in blogland after a long summer off. i hope you missed me! I just wanted to tell ya about my very small herb garden, it did not do well this summer, as we have been in a drought. dry dry dry-that's been our summer. oh, and hot hot HOT! The gardens and lawns have surely suffered. however, my fennel did survive, and earlier, served the red wasp population in our yard. Click on images to enlarge. But now, the black swallowtails.

Wednesday, June 30, 2010. I have a very small herb garden that has grown over a bit in the last few years. i pulled a bunch of weeds out and realized that the soil was needing more care than i had time to give. so i decided to grow this season's plants in pots. in the fall, when the plants are spent, i will add the soil to the garden bed for next year. I tried to find some purple basil. But was unsuccessful. if you have never smelled purple basil (purple ruffles), you NEED to! 1 the pleasures of a garden.

Tuesday, November 30, 2010. Sometimes he drives me crazy. And sometimes he just drives. I was thinking about his driving skills this morning as i kissed him good bye. rain was pouring down like crazy and i told him to drive carefully. he answered "i will, i'm not a maniac! Well, sex maniac, maybe! But when he said the word maniac. It reminded me of a trip we took to the airport one time. because maniac applied to his driving on this wild ride! 1 obviously, for my crazy-driving hubby. Thanksgiving. wh...

Thoughts From The Mind Of One Small Woman. Pix of my Princess. The weather here is becoming very summery: humid and warm with occasional storms and showers, and the heat is getting to my dear little girl, who spends most of her days asleep in my bedroom or lying on the floor by the computer when I am using it. Not so my Princess; she, when not napping, is always beside me, sharing my time, her voice asking for attention now and then in the kindest of manners. I just love her! God Bless All Cats. Since I ...

Thoughts From The Mind Of One Small Woman. The platypus is an egg laying mammal exclusively found in Australia. They are very shy creatures, but a lot of work is now being done to learn more about them in the wild. I hope you find the video clip, courtesy of National Geographic interesting to watch; it may give you an insight into these little mammals, indeed, may even be your first encounter with a platypus. Their scientific name is. Infant platypi with mother in nest. Well developed platypi young.

Thoughts From The Mind Of One Small Woman. I found this little piece and thought it was quite interesting :) I love hedgehogs, though ours here in Australia are a little different and are called "echidnas". They have sharp spines and eat ants. Also known as spiny anteaters. Belong to the family. There are four extant. Are the only surviving members of that order. And are the only extant mammals that lay eggs. They live in New Guinea. The echidnas are named after a monster in ancient Greek mythology.

Thoughts From The Mind Of One Small Woman. What's In A Name? Falls gently from a heaven. Of wonder and a deeper way. And portraits of another time. A fading central core. Wrung with tender pity. And an element of shame. Or tears from eyes. That seem to cry. Monday, September 27, 2010. This semi climber, above, has the loveliest of perfumes. And the luscious bougainvillea which relies on its coloured bracts for splendour, has none, but is beloved by bees for the tiny white centres that make the true flower.

Thoughts From The Mind Of One Small Woman. On Thursday, Sid and I went out for lunch and to shop for a birthday gift for my sister Beverley, whos'e special celebration is in a couple of weeks. Our pets were left "Home Alone" for the duration: Sid's plump little Jamie, my lovely Siamese girl Tiggy and of course my faithful Rusty. Whenever they are left to their own devices for any length of time - be it 10 minutes or 4 hours! Jamie felt the need to give Sid big kisses. And more big kisses. It is with grea...
