Lapidary has its roots in prehistory as early humans began fashioning tools and weaponry from stone. These techniques were also used for personal adornment. Carving stone became a characteristic of many cultures throughout the world. The Lapidary Group meets by appointment only. The meetings are held in Sharon's garage. Bring COOKIES! And preparation of numerous local minerals for which the Pikes Peak region is world renown. These include Amazonite, Smokey Quartz, Topaz and Fluorite. The Crystal Group meets every 4th Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM.

The CSMS Micromounters specialize in the collection and preparation of mineral specimens that are so small that they are generally viewed under a microscope. Micromounting can be performed on very rare minerals that occur in very small crystals. This process is also perfect for displaying fantastic sprays of very delicate crystals that could not even exist on a larger scale. The Micromount Group meets every 2nd Tuesday at 7:00 PM.
