Peeler's Wargaming & Wittering Page

Peelers Wargaming and Wittering Page. Sunday, 13 May 2012. Byzarbia at Ayton Game. Once again it's been a while, though in my defence I plead that I have been busy painting figures for our second Ayton Weekend Game, even forgoing two of our usual Wednesday evening games so that we could crack on a bit. One or two gamers had not yet arrived by dinner time on the Friday, one in particular having gone c/o goodness knows where, so after setting up we had a good feed at the local Dennison Arms . Here's some p...

Peeler's Wargaming & Wittering Page: April 2011

http://peelerswargamespage.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Peelers Wargaming and Wittering Page. Saturday, 23 April 2011. God Bless Elizabeth, England and St George! It's St Georges Day, and at Peeler Mansions we have a new and well proper looking flag pole up and running. After a fair bit of drilling, brick dust tasting and scuffing of knuckles, we were sorted and happily flying a large 5x3 foot St George Cross again. This particular pole is made for easy change of flags, so we're also prepared with a new Union flag for the wedding this coming week.

Peeler's Wargaming & Wittering Page: November 2011

http://peelerswargamespage.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Peelers Wargaming and Wittering Page. Friday, 11 November 2011. This photo was recently taken on a wander nearby to Ayton, by David Wright, one of our gaming chums. When you see a field like this, it does make you stop and think for a moment or two, in remembrance of those who have gone before, and for those who are still serving. God bless them all. Links to this post. Wednesday, 2 November 2011. Pickering War Weekend, October 2011. As usual, the day started well enough, with a rather large breakfast.

Peelers Wargaming and Wittering Page. Monday, 27 June 2011. Armed Forces and Scarborogh WarTorn Show. Well it was Armed Forces Weekend again in sunny Scarborough, this last weekend 25 th. June, and as you can see, it was a good weekend to have it, indeed the Peeler family suffered from sun burn bordering on sun stroke just from the Saturday. Afternoon. Here's a view from The Spa, over the seafront toward the castle and harbour, it's a good view even on a damp squib of a day. Club and Richard Jackson of t...

Peelers Wargaming and Wittering Page. Sunday, 11 March 2012. A Large DBN Bash and Witter. Well, how are things? As usual, busy times have interrupted one's Blogging. I look forward to the day when my time is my own, to (more or less) do as I please - not that I want to become unemployed you understand, it's just that - well, life gets in the way of the hobby doesn't it. Anyway, here's some photos from a Large DBN Game we played over a weekend way last November (! Pretty soon, shortly after lunch, the mai...

Christmas at Tyneside Wargames Club… – Another Slight Diversion

http://blog.belisarius.org.uk/2011/12/christmas-at-tyneside-wargames-club.html

The Thoughts and Reflections of an Easily Distracted Wargamer. Ayton 2011 Day 1. Ayton 2011 Day 2. Ayton 2012 – 1. Call to Muster 2013. Christmas at Tyneside Wargames Club…. I had really intended to get more gaming this last year but managed to get two games of Cold War Commander in the first quarter, then the big Ayton ImagiNation weekend and… that’s been it. Not a good total really but definitely quality over quantity, especially with the Ayton game! I haven’t played Grande Armee for…ages&#...Phil, Law...

A wargaming and painting website. Sunday, 17 June 2012. Battle of Ravenna 1512. Phalanx 16.06.2012. I was pleased to see that Yorkshire was well represented with Tim, Peeler and Rich all making the trip over. I particularly enjoyed focussing in on the 16th/17th Century wargames on display this time round. I've included a few photos for reference, apologies for the quality. I endeavour to bring a decent camera in future. Wars of Religion - Western Europe 1610-1660 FOG/Osprey - £13. Overall not a big spend...

Malta Campaign Game 15 — Gavin's Wargaming Blog

http://www.britishforces.org.uk/malta-campaign-game-15-2

Gavin's Wargaming Blog. Building Armies in Miniature. Malta Campaign Game 15. June 10, 2010. On Monday I was unable to make the club to run the next installment of the Malta Campaign. Fortunately, Kit said he’d do the honours. And below is the write-up he has provided me as well as some photo’s of the action. Unfortunately they had been spotted so the forward pair of Hurricanes (Paul and Dan) have intercepted them, knowing that the rest of the Squadron has been scrambled to support them. The Italians see...

6mm Napoleonics — Gavin's Wargaming Blog

http://www.britishforces.org.uk/6mm/6mm-napoleonics

Gavin's Wargaming Blog. Building Armies in Miniature. This project started a few years ago when I bought a Baccus Polemos boxed set with British and French armies inside. We’ve since discarded the rules as unworkable, and are working on our own set which is a meld between the tempo and movement rules of Polemos, with the shooting, combat and morale system of Principles of War. American War of Independence. Lord of the Rings. I Ain’t Been Shot Mum. LOTR – War of the Ring. AWI Project almost finished.

Gavin's Wargaming Blog. Building Armies in Miniature. Operation Mitten BKC Scenario. November 19, 2011. I was reading Monty’s Iron Sides by Patrick Delaforce on holiday this year when I came across the. Description of Operation Mitten. In the book this only takes a couple of pages with no maps or real detail, but it prompted me to do a bit more digging on the internet and on TMP which gained me enough information to put together a scenario for Blitzkrieg Commander. 1 CO (CV 9 ). 2 FAO (CV 8 ). 21st Panze...

10mm German — Gavin's Wargaming Blog

http://www.britishforces.org.uk/10mm/10mm-german

Gavin's Wargaming Blog. Building Armies in Miniature. I opted out of all the ubermenschen super SS army crap that seems to fixate wargamers, and have several battalions of Infantry, a Recce Battalion and assorted armour including StuG’s, PzIV’s, Panthers and Tigers. They also have a sizeable Nebelwerfer force to support from afar as well as one of the dreaded 88mm AA guns. American War of Independence. Lord of the Rings. I Ain’t Been Shot Mum. Gavin's Wargaming Blog. Building Armies in Miniature. Somewhere in Spain – PoW AAR Pt1. January 11, 2013. Having had a cracking game with Goat Major and Matt on Saturday and having the house to myself for the next few weeks during the day, I decided to leave the tables up and play a Napoleonic game solo, spacing the turns out while working on the Campaign System. As ever, click on the pictures to make them bigger! You can see that Wellington has his forces on the right hand side of the table, with Beresf...

10mm British — Gavin's Wargaming Blog

Gavin's Wargaming Blog. Building Armies in Miniature. My British forces now amount to around a full infantry brigade of 3 battalions, although theres a few missing support weapon stands still. There’s also a Sherman armoured regiment for heavier assistance, as well as artillery and air power. The pictures below only show one of the infantry units since they’re all much the same. 15mm — Gavin's Wargaming Blog

http://www.britishforces.org.uk/15mm

Gavin's Wargaming Blog. Building Armies in Miniature. My first ever metal figures were 15mm Marian Romans. You can see them below and true to wargamers form, the army still isn’t finished 13 years on! I’ve also got a limited collection of 15mm Napoleonics which I picked up while at University and at home in Leeds. The latest additions are some Peter Pig modern US Army figures for Ambush Alley or other skirmish games which I’ve painted, and some African militia types I got from eBay. Lord of the Rings.
