Penikese Island School hosted a program run by The Children’s Study Home. During 2016. This was a non-profit therapeutic residential program for young men with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders, licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and based on Penikese Island. The program was closed in January, 2017. While the program was successful therapeutically (and the staff was phenomenal! Funding sources failed to meet the projections of the program operator.
